Fairy Best Wishes

Hello my friends. I am running late once again. Hope you've had a good week and are ready for another wonderful retro sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This week Patti picked the retro sketch for us, and A Day For Daisies is our wonderful sponsor. Their prize is a $12 gift certificate.

Here is this week's sketch:

This is a very versatile sketch as you will see if you visit the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and see the different ways the DT have used it to inspire you.

My card features Wild Rose Nymph.  Isn't she lovely? I have colored her with my Copic markers, but have used Spectrum Noir glitter pens on her wings and a little on the mauve colored flowers in her hair. Sadly, the sparkle did not show at all in the photo. It gave a nice little shimmer to the sweet Nymph.

The roses are from Wild Orchid, the ribbon on the blue strip is from Joann's Fabrics, and the sentiment is from a package I received as a "gift" when I purchased a UK stamping magazine.

I hope you've been having fun reusing some of last year's sketches. We have a few more for you before we share some new ones with you. Have fun, and remember to enter your creation at the TMS blog for your chance to win that super ADFD prize!

New Beginnings

At the beginning of a new year, many people have problems remembering to write the new year rather than the old. In my case, I remember to put 17 on everything, but I've completely how to otherwise function!! I started the year by using the wrong sketch. You didn't know that because I was able to quickly make a new card using the correct sketch before we went public. I had several other "mishaps" that I won't share but the reason for this confession is that this week I colored and used the image that I'm supposed to use for next week's card. We are going to be sponsored by the wonderful A Day For Daisies next week, and the lovely image above "Baby's Smile" is supposed to be used then. I discovered this mistake too late to start over, so I am going to use another of ADFD's lovely images from my personal stash on next week's card.

I colored the image with Copic markers after printing it onto Neenah Solar white card. I have a dear friend who is expecting a baby boy in April, so I had her in mind when making this card. I have to apologize for the young mother's overly rouged cheeks. I picked up the pink by accident thinking I had the flesh color and ended up over coloring. Despite using my colorless blender to remove some of the pink and then coloring over with flesh, the cheeks are a bit pinker than I'd like.

I've used a white card base, pastel green background and a strip of designer paper from a pad by K&Company. The green ribbon is from my girlfriend's stash and did not have a manufacturer on the spool.

Tuesday Morning Sketches is sponsoring this week's challenge, and the prize is a lovely stamp (picture may be available later on the blog). As always, we hope that this retro sketch (Melissa's choice) will inspire you to create and that you will share your creation with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Ava and Deacon Love

We are still using some of the DT's favorites from last year. This one was picked by Wanda. Do you remember it? It is a fun sketch to use. Here is the blank sketch:

Our sponsor this week is a fun favorite, too. Bugaboo is offering up four (4) of their fun images to one lucky winner!

I have used a solid red card base for my card. I rounded off all four corners. The patterned paper is from a 12" x 12" pad by Dear Izzy called Documentary. I printed Ava and Deacon onto Neenah white card and colored them with my Copic markers. The Spellbinder die is cut out of another piece of patterned paper from the same previously mentioned pad. The banner across the bottom of the image is a piece of ribbon. I did cut fishtails on both side of the ribbon, but they are against a white area of the background paper so don't show in the photo.

The DT have been havng fun using some of our favorites. We hope you are enjoying the look back as much as we are. Please join us by creating a card of your own and entering the weekly challenge. Link your card at the Tuesday Morning blog. We look forward to seeing it.

A Day Late

I am sincerely hoping that the beginning of this year is NOT indicative of how the year is going to go. I have been totally off kilter for the past two weeks! Part of the "problem," I realize is that I was off work during the holidays and then we followed those up with a couple of snow/ice days. Then to add to the confusion, one day of my work schedule has been changed, so a new routine for me. OK, enough explaining for why I'm a ding-bat (smile). Let's get on with the show....

This week's sketch from last year was picked for us by Debbie, and the prize for this week is three beautiful embossing folders. Here is the sketch:

I want to mention that we are looking for a couple more people to join the design team. We are not going to be sending out an official DT call, but if it is something that you've ever considered, and you think you might enjoy working with the TMS sketches, just let me know and I'll pass your name on to Melissa.

Thanks, and enjoy this week's sketch!

Happy New Year

Happy new year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that you are now ready to get back to Tuesday Morning Sketches and to crafting. I know I did and I am (smile).

If you have been following TMS or my blog for a while, you know TMS starts each new year with a collection of DT member's favorites from the previous year. This week's sketch was selected from among Janice's favorites from 2016.

Tuesday Morning Sketches is sponsoring this week's challenge.  The prize is a cute Christmas stamp (I know Christmas is over but this will give you a head start for next year), a 6x6 paper pad and some much needed reinkers for Versa-Mark, Staz-On (black) and Memento Tuxedo Black ink pads.

So Janice is kicking it off with her favorite sketch, TMS #339.  This was created by Debbie and was first published on February 16th:

First, let me apologize for the washed out look of my card. I guess my mind was still in holiday mode because I used the wrong sketch. By the time I discovered it, it was getting late AND we were having a nice little rain storm -- in other words, not the best lighting conditions for taking my picture (sigh).

Anyway, the card base is tan, the DPs are from a very old DCWV pad called Linen Closet. My image is a sweet Magnolia stamp. The flowers are from Recollections (large) and Wild Orchid Crafts (small), and the leaves are punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I altered the sketch slightly by using an oval die rather than a circle to better fit my image. You cannot tell in the photo, but the background DP, the strip piece, the large flower and the tiara all have a bit of glitter.

Join us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. See you next Tuesday, if not before. Happy crafting!
