<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
Dear Followers,</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As you may have noticed, I have not posted here on my blog since last November. I thought that I was going to just take my "annual" holiday break and be back at the first of the year. However, I have decided that I need to take more of a break.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Things have been a bit topsy turvy in my household for the past year. I have struggled to keep up with my crafting while dealing with the family and work. I think, for the most part, I have managed to at least get a Tuesday Morning Sketches DT card made once a week, but it has been a struggle at times. I have not really been enjoying my crafts, so it has been more of an obligation than a pleasure.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have decided that I need a bit more of a break. I have stepped down from the Tuesday Morning Sketches core DT. I have volunteered to continue to manage the TMS FaceBook page, so I'm not completely disappearing, but will not have the pressure of making a card for the team.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am hoping and praying that my life with mellow out and straighten up again in 2019 and that my Mojo will once again lead me into the craft areas that I have so enjoyed in the past. In the mean time, I hope that you continue to create beautiful things, and that you will share them with Tuesday Morning Sketches -- or just, once in a while, with me (smile). </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I really appreciate all of you who have followed my blog over the past decade. In turn, I follow many of your blogs, and you have been an inspiration to me as much as I hope I've been to you.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Until the Todd Muses return, be happy, be crafty, and be blessed.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sorry, I'm late again. I had the surgery on my other eye on Monday, and this one was a little tougher. A different type stint was inserted in this eye and required a bit more invasive procedure, so I'm still quite swollen.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Having problems seeing the screen, so am definitely typing in the dark, but didn't want to be any later with this week's card than I already am. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The sketch shows staples used in the ribbon strip across the top. However, that little element can be changed up a bit (use your imagination) as shown with the DT samples. Some have used staples, one has used Baker's twine, I think one has used buttons. I have used gems. I also didn't use ribbon, but rather a piece of strip that came off the paper I used for the background. It already had the scallops printed, with the solid, so I just measured a piece and used it. I added the two gems instead of the staples.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My image (as are so many of mine lately) is a colored clip art that I have collected over the years. I LUV the little ostrich with her horn-rimmed glasses. I added some small gems to each side of her glasses. She is a glitzy kind of gal, so needed the added bling!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That's basically all I had to do to create this adorable birthday card. Base card, pattern paper, image and some bling. There you go! Think I will be using this sketch (with variations on the gems) whenever I need a quick but cute card. It was just too, too easy and fun to make!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Good morning. This is Thanksgiving week here in the USA. Our neighbors to the north, Canada, have already celebrated their thanksgiving -- they are smart and do it earlier so it doesn't get lost or overlooked by the Christmas season.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have used the Thanksgiving/harvest theme with my little card. The base card is a light tan with a layer of green topped off with three lovely fall colored papers. The three papers each have a subtle monochromatic pattern embedded in it (you can see the pattern in the left paper, but the photo isn't showing the other two very well).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I matted my oval cut clip art with a green oval and added an orange ribbon and two little resin leaves. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Despite the many different elements in this card, it went together quickly. I can definitely see this sketch being used for so many different themes (holidays, birthdays, get well, thinking of you). The little bow and flower can be switched out in so many different ways to compliment your theme and/or image. Let your imagination go wild (smile)!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Have a great week, and I hope that those of you here in the US will have a blessed Thanksgiving with good food, good friends and family, and lots of good laughter. God bless.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hi everyone. I am not going to be posting much about how I made my card. I have had the first of two eye surgeries so am having some problems seeing. This is our TMS for this week. It is super easy to make although my "square" isn't quite as diamond shaped as the picture (or as shown by the other DT members). I think it still captures the essence of the sketch. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Please take a few minutes to visit the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog for more samples of this sketch. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Have fun seeing what you can do with this unique look and then show us, at Tuesday Morning Sketches, what you did.</span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-35193376547191094592018-10-30T06:00:00.000-04:002018-10-30T06:00:06.244-04:00Snowman Merry Christmas<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I cannot believe how quickly the weeks are going by. It is the start of all the year end holiday season. Halloween is only two days away, and then before we know it, Thanksgiving will be over and Christmas well be in full swing (unless you are one of my followers to the north who has already celebrated Thanksgiving or from across the pond where Thanksgiving isn't celebrated at all). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This week's sketch is really a nice one. Here it is:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc_oPANfzUp6z_UtO1iE9V1JkrhQgGBGyJiLRbX4fmLKgel1JkwsMd09TdjyI9CdMOh7zl0zmmlDn2lwBpAAdf8H9V3mXTcTAN3JZkkzrolh0MDft8vG3efcEltef7eldwN6GeLWgZdsY/s1600/TMS+477.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="573" data-original-width="448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc_oPANfzUp6z_UtO1iE9V1JkrhQgGBGyJiLRbX4fmLKgel1JkwsMd09TdjyI9CdMOh7zl0zmmlDn2lwBpAAdf8H9V3mXTcTAN3JZkkzrolh0MDft8vG3efcEltef7eldwN6GeLWgZdsY/s320/TMS+477.jpg" width="250" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It was really fun seeing how each member of the design team used this sketch. It never ceases to amaze me just how different each of our cards turn out each week. Even when they are similar (like last week when several of us used a snowflake theme), they always look so different.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I didn't plan on making my Christmas cards this year. The pressure I place on myself each year to make enough cards to send out just adds unnecessary stress to the holidays. I always tell myself I am going to take a couple weeks in the summer and just make all the cards then, but it doesn't seem to happen that way. However, when I saw this week's sketch, the snowman and snowflakes just seemed to be the right combination.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have used a white card base (5 x 7"), and I've used a pattern paper from We Are 3 digital designs. It has been a little while since I've used a We Are 3 digital paper so I felt it was about time I pull a little weight and actually do a card with some digital paper. This piece is from a 4-paper set called "Howdy." </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="No automatic alt text available." height="320" src="https://scontent.fatl1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/44661636_10215404656143333_8278794907536064512_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&_nc_ht=scontent.fatl1-2.fna&oh=187b6046b7dc1f992a7b40ed50218062&oe=5C3EFA4A" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The snowman is from a clip art file. I think it may have been a Provo Craft design, but I am not sure, so don't quote me. The image is actually a full snowman, but I needed the circle shape, so I have eliminated the lower part of the guy's body.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The patterned paper from which I cut the red dotty circle is by Michael's Crafts. It was from one of their yearly Christmas 8.5 x 11" paper packs (purchased last year). The two fish tail banners are cut from solid blue and solid white using a Memory Crafts die. I stamped the sentiment onto the white fishtail using a stamp from My Perfect Expression using SU's Real Red ink.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I punched two large snowflakes and three smaller one (Martha Stewart punches) and placed them around the bottom right portion of the circles. I then spread Stickles on top of the snowflakes to add some shimmer (sorry you cannot see that in the above photo, but it is pretty -- just enough glitter without being overdone).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And speaking of snowmen (yes, I know that it is incorrect to start a sentence or a paragraph with the word and, but just overlook it this time, OK?), check out the darling prize that some lucky winner will get to receive this week. Are you ready? Here it is:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Tuesdays keep coming around way too fast! This week we have a beautiful sketch for you at Tuesday Morning Sketches. With several layers and elements, this sketch works up quite lovely. I started with another beautiful print from Heartfelt Creations, and matched my papers to the colors in the print.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started with a 5 x 7" burgundy card turned horizontal. I then a piece of pink stripe paper in my scrap bag that was a lovely compliment to the basket of petunias in the print. I used one of my lovely dies to cut the scalloped edge to the pink piece. I matched the green in the leaves with a piece of green scrap for my horizontal band, and I punched the tiny tags from scraps of Heartfelt Creations paper (from the same pad as the oval image).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">After assembling the card, I added pearls to the "hole" in the tags and attached a sentiment (from the Heartfelt Creations pad) with a pearl on each side of the sentiment.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I hope you like our sketch and will play along with us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches.</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This week's sketch is a bit different and at first may seem a bit challenging. However, it isn't as daunting as you may first think. Let me show you the sketch and then break it down for you a little so that you will see just how easy it really is. Here is the sketch:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PgZkqVwP5oWSwxuCBRbXkc0Rj_gk4E2QkzPxyWdPz7MfG7vrG_jPqeH5Qua76HWPySOiynPmTyFLLwNx6Ap6NPPMOKNAkbdAkxbMkkLIJPuo1nQ0AkQRbRAia7vR75ebTeNACcQ79mw/s1600/TMS+475+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="414" data-original-width="574" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PgZkqVwP5oWSwxuCBRbXkc0Rj_gk4E2QkzPxyWdPz7MfG7vrG_jPqeH5Qua76HWPySOiynPmTyFLLwNx6Ap6NPPMOKNAkbdAkxbMkkLIJPuo1nQ0AkQRbRAia7vR75ebTeNACcQ79mw/s320/TMS+475+%25281%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You will notice that my card is not a literal version of the sketch. In place of the paisley shapes, I've substituted snowflakes. After I created my card, I learned that one of the other DT members had also used snowflakes in place of the paisley shapes. Two of the DT members used actual paisley shapes, and one of us very creatively used leaf sprigs. The point I am making is that you can take creative liberties with this sketch and use a variety of shapes in place of the paisley shapes. You may use leaves, flowers, stars, hearts, or even tea cups -- in other words, you are only limited by your own creativity and imagination.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a white 5 x 7" card base. I placed a piece of red snowflake paper, from an Imaginations Christmas pad, on top of the card base. The snowflakes are a combination of two different type pre-cut snowflakes that I got in packages from Michael's Crafts several years ago. The dimensional one is plastic whereas the flat ones are a silky type material. Since they were larger than the paisley images on the sketch, I only used four of them. The sentiment is from a card kit that I bought 7-8 years ago.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This was one very quick and easy card. The paper and the pre-made embellishments made quick work of this card. However, I think you will find that whatever theme you pick, this sketch is going to work up quickly. You really need to run over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and have a look at what the other team members have created!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you still need more incentive to play along with us this week, here is a look at the super prize that some lucky person is going to win:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Somehow I completely skipped last week -- oh, not in reality, but in terms of posting my Tuesday Morning Sketches DT card. I made the card. I even photographed it, but then I guess I went through a mind-warp and that's where my routine stopped! Anyway, I wanted to share my last week's card with you. This card was used as a birthday card for a very sweet lady's 82nd birthday. She is so kind and thinks my cards are lovely, so I enjoy creating something for her.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a 5 x 7" burgundy base. I placed a piece of floral DP from the Heartfelt Creations peony collection on top as a background. I then cut the image piece from the same peony pad. The oval and the pink background are actually one piece. It is matted with the burgundy. The sentiment is also from that peony pad. I cut a burgundy fishtail and adhered the sentiment to it so that the wording would stand out more. Lastly, I adhered some dainty flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and some punched green leaves to the lower right edge of the image.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once again, Heartfelt Creations has pretty much done all the work for me. Between Tuesday Morning Sketches and Heartfelt Creations, I can create some beautiful cards that makes my friends feel very special.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway, thank you for letting me share (albeit late) my Tuesday Morning Sketches DT card. Stay tuned for this week's card in just a few hours from now (smile)!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I was ready to write this post last night when my internet went out. Actually, my entire Xfinity went out because I not only didn't have internet, but I didn't have television service, either. Anyway, I hope you will forgive my tardiness.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This week's sketch is by Melissa, and it is a wonderfully classic design that you will be able to use in a variety of ways. Just a hint: those three turned squares can be a plethora of things such as hearts, song notes, other images, candy pieces, spiders, webs, etc. (think Halloween). Are you getting the picture?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I stayed pretty true to the exact design (minus a bow) for my card. I have been having to replenish my stash of adult birthday cards, so the original design fit my needs. The carnation image is colored with pencil and then I added a light coating of glitter shimmer to different petals (not all of them) and the center.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started with a light pink 5 x 7" card base. All of the other papers (except the image) are from my scrap pile. Yes, you read that correctly. Other than the card base, I did not use any new paper for this card. I layered the image with dark pink to set it off from the multi-colored background paper. I punched three squares (using a Creative Memories punch), and I stamped the sentiment. The two gems that I used in place of the bow are dark green and match the green in the background. (Yes, I know they look a bit bluish in the picture, but they are green.)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Have a good week. Here's hoping that will include some crafting time! See you again next Tuesday, if not before.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I don't know why I cannot seem to be organized any more (or any less -- wait, no, I don't want to be any less). The days are just flying by, and I can't seem to keep them straight. Just discovered that I failed to post this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches card here on my blog (hanging my head).</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is the new sketch. It is provided by Carol and is really much prettier and easier than it looks in the sketch. <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We also have a fun-tastic prize for this week's challenge, and here it is:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">OK, so I went steam punk with my card. I have used one of Sherry Baldie's steam punk images and a variety of dies to create a "metal" look. The bear has been fussy cut and is sitting on a circle that has been topped with a clock face die cut. I ran my "cogs" die through a number of times to get enough pieces to create the elements coming out from behind the circle. Lastly, I moved the sentiment to the side of the card in order to have enough room and used a metal word from my stash. Didn't it turn out adorable?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Despite my being a couple of days behind posting my card, I hope you will still have time to possibly create your own and submit it to the Tuesday Morning Blog challenge. That die sure is pretty and would be a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. They can be used, not only for Christmas, but for wedding and anniversary cards, too. Don't you just love multi-functional tools?</span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-18184067960337941622018-09-18T06:00:00.000-04:002018-09-18T06:00:00.364-04:00Blue Birds of Happiness<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Melissa said that I was either still clinging to spring or looking forward to it with my little image. I actually had not thought about it being a spring image. I thought of it more as a pretty summer image, and I admit that I am clinging to summer for a little while longer. After all, fall doesn't officially come until this weekend (22nd September)! I so like the images painted by Carolyn Shores Wright. I actually own five of her framed prints (2 birdie prints and three kitty prints).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have combined pink, blue and green for my papers, picking up the colors in the print. The card, itself, is a 5" x 7" pink card. The blue print background is matted with green. My image is matted with the same pink as the card, and my embellishment is cut from the green. I have finished the front off with the three pink pearls in the upper right corner.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since this card is all a matter of cutting and gluing, it made up very quickly, but I think it looks quite lovely; how about you?</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This week we have a fun stamp set for our challenge prize. This is the CC Design set:</span></div>

<img height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2G4zAUjOW2xdlQQ1DsCBYvFWG9SsynTJ0RkHYsQf8N2ClelDwk4HZcN9N_LsHqZmL7KZJVi9W0nW_R8z1PAgjk35P5_TEJ1vleu8PVFl7N1K4NJO3kmaTOiIQnRZDb751zkZTcM5g45Y/s320/IMG_3309.JPG" width="240" /><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Wouldn't you like a chance to win that lovely background stamp? It could be yours. All you have to do is create a card using our sketch, post it to your own blog and then link it to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. You may be our random winner of the Autumn Leaves background stamp. There is one thing for sure. If you don't enter, you definitely will not win!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Have fun with this week's sketch, and I'll be back next week with another wonderful sketch to share with you.</span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-13084219818987918102018-09-11T06:30:00.000-04:002018-09-11T06:30:03.102-04:00Happy Birthday<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Are you ready for anothr lovely sketch? I have to say that this one is another "quicky" that doesn't look like it. Depending on what you use for your papers and your image, this sketch can have a plethera of looks! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started with a pink card base (a 5" x 7" turned horizontal). I put a layer of blue DP on top (that's where you really set the "tone" of this sketch depending on your background paper). Card, DP and image. It doesn't get any simplier than that! I picked a lovely vintage image of pink flowers for my focal point. I cut the circle and then layered it on the solid pink. I used the same piece of solid but cut an even larger circle from the edge to use across the front. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A Happy Birthday die cut from the blue DP gives me my sentiment, and I topped it off with pink pearls (simply because I like my bling - smile). I think the whole look is one of simple sophistication, and I'm rather pleased with the overall effect. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you haven't given the Tuesday Morning Sketches a try, I think you should. The sketches are so much fun and a real creative boost. We have been having some wonderful participation, but we'd love to have even more. All it takes is a few minutes of your time. Create a card following the sketch, take a picture, then post it to your blog linking it to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Have a good week. When you read my blog next Tuesday (not today, but next week), I will be another year old (smile). Yuppers, I have a birthday coming up on the 17th. Someone asked me to name something good about having another birthday. I replied, "Having another birthday!" </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">One other thing before I go. Today (11 September) is the anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon by terriorists here in the United States. Please, if you would, take a minute this morning and just remember all the people who lost their lives.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Thank you and God bless!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once in a blue moon (in other words, not very often), we will have a challenge that makes me struggle a bit. They are, after all, called challenges, so if every one was easy where would the challenge be? This was one of the sketches that left me scratching my head. I knew that I could use ribbon, baker's twine, even wire, to create the element beside the image, but then I really couldn't really figure out a sentiment or image to combine with the decorative element. I pondered my dilemma for quite a bit and decided to change out that funky shape for a letter. September is filled with birthdays that I need to acknowledge, so I settled on a birthday theme and a play on the word "nice." </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Originally I had cut a capital N to use, but it turned out not only to be just a tad too big, but rather lack-luster, so while searching my embellishments and my drawer of letters, I foundthe green glitter n that I used. It is a tad smaller than I would have liked, but the glitter works in a fun way to call attention to it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a piece of paper with different colored "jelly bean" shapes as my background. I matched the dark, rose pink with a solid from my stash to create the punched border piece that goes across the middle of the card. (I used a Martha Steward border punch.) I used three green brads below the border, and I typed my sentiment onto a lighter pink. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since I wasn't really sure how I felt about the card (it really is quite different from my usual style), I put a fun verse on the inside about birthdays being good for you because the more you have the longer you live. Despite being a bit different, it did turn out kind of cute, and the person who will receive it has a sense of humor, so perfect for her.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've alreasy seen a couple of my teammate's cards for this challenge, and as always, we have come up with totally different ideas. I think you are going to find them all to be quite wonderful, and I hope they will inspire you to try your hand with this sketch.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Happy crafting; have a great week!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Another Tuesday means another wonderful sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This one threw me a little bit at first because there is an image in the oval. Of course, that was only to suggest an image or die cut and not to be taken literally, but my mind kept focusing on that image - duh! Took me walking away from the sketch entirely before I could wrap my mind around what to do. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Instead of using a literal die cut shape on top of my oval, I used the oval to cut out a picture from Heartfelt Creations. It is one of their many beautiful pre-colored card toppers. I used papers from the same pad (Lovely Lilacs) for the background and the three strips at the bottom.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I added a dimensional bead butterfly and black gems to give my card some dimension. I added three small black gems to the body of the butterfly in the oval, and three along the right upper corner. The butterfly under the oval is the bead.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used one of the sentiments from the paper pad for my top, fishtail piece. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The prize for this week's schedule is a brand new Night of Navy ink pad from Stampin Up. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Please join us this week by creating your own lovely card using our sketch and posting it on the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Are you enjoying the sketches we've been using lately at Tuesday Morning Sketches? I have. They have been so easy and wonderful to use, and I've really liked all the cards that I've been making using our sketches. This week, Melissa has provided another wonderful sketch, and I hope you will give it a try.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started with a white 5 x 7" card base. The green background is a scrap from a piece I previously used. It is from a Recollections 12 x 12" pad. I debated on matting it with black since I was matting my image and my die cuts with black, but decided the white card made a nice "matting" for the green and white paper. As I said, I did mat the image (from Heartfelt Creations) with the black and punched two black circles to "mat" my cut outs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The anchor and star fish dies are from Marianne Dies and Crafts. They went perfectly with the Heartfelt Creations paper as both images can be seen in the seascape. I lightly inked the die cuts with CTMH Oak Brown ink. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My daughter found the ribbon among my stash, and it is a perfect compliment to this card. Not only is it the "right" color, but it is slightly textured, reminding me of beach sand.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Have a wonderful week, and do take a little time out to do something you enjoy (perhaps even use our sketch and join this week's challenge). </span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-79063103745729568972018-08-14T06:30:00.000-04:002018-08-14T06:30:01.598-04:00A Special Hug<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It is Tuesday morning again, so time for another wonderful sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This one looks simple, but is also quite versatile. It can be elegant or fun -- the look depends on you and the papers and images you pick.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have gone with a little bit of a sophisticated look since many of the people I send cards to these days are older adults. This one uses a print from Heartfelt Creations. (I do so love the papers and images from them.) I started with a deep purple (actually plum) as the base card. The dark green printed paper, the purple printed paper and the image are from the Classic Petunia Collection pad. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Had I planned ahead a little bit better, I would have used my Classic Petunia stamps and dies to handmake the flowers; however, being quite slack lately with my creativity, I had to use flowers from Recollections. The purple has a lovely pearl center and matches the petunias in the print. The green roses, also by Recollections, matches the light green petunias in the print. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The sentiment is from the same pack. It original read "A special hug for you." However, the full sentiment was too long for the card, so I trimmed it down and then matted it with a piece of the green.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hope you will have a great week with some time for crafting, and if you are so inclined, we would love to have you use our sketch and share what you make with it.</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> <span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #404040; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">Our prize this week is a bag full of happy! <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I know the flowers on my card aren't really daisies, but I liked the alliteration of the two words I used in my title (smile). This week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches is another one with lots of possibilities. I can't wait to see what all our followers do with this.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have used a paper from a digital set by We Are 3. The set is called <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/619123350/we-are-3-digital-paper-sunflower-sun?ref=shop_home_feat_1" target="_blank">Sunflower<span style="color: #b00000;">.</span></a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a white 5 x 7' card as my base and cut the We Are 3 piece to 4 3/4 x 6 3/4". I cut a piece of orange card and a piece of yellow card to make the band across the bottom. The two flowers were from my stash (I've had for ages and ages), and I created them by combining smaller flowers with larger ones and adding an amber colored gem. The sentiment is from a stamp that I've had for quite some time. The card was simple as 1-2-3, but turned out quite nice looking. The look will vary depending on the paper and the flowers (or other element) that you use.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have not seen what this week's prize is going to be, so can't let you in on that. You'll need to check the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog sometime tomorrow. However, we hope you will join us this week by making your own card and sharing it with us on the blog.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Have you been enjoying the sketches lately from Tuesday Morning Sketches? I certainly have. They have all been so fun to work with. This week's is no exception. I took the basic sketch and upped the game a little bit. Isn't the card lovely?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started with a white 5 x 7" card base. The periwinkle background is from Heartfelt Creations. My three circle images are from a sheet of vintage clipart. The 8.5 x 11" sheet contained over a dozen beautiful circles, so I chose three of them. I punched them with a 1.5" circle punch. I also took my 1 3/4" scallop bunch and cut the three white scalloped circles. I then cut another piece of white for the top half of my card and punched a pretty border using a Martha Stewart border punch. Before adhering the white topper to the card, I added a periwinkle blue ribbon and bow. I then cut the sentiment from another piece of Heartfelt Creations paper and adhered it on top of the ribbon.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This card was so quick and easy but looks beautiful! I really love how it turned out.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">You are going to want to go over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and see all the different cards the DT made. Each one of them is entirely different in looks, but are absolutely amazing. We have a very creative and talented design team, and this week really shows that. Prepared to be wowed!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We have another lovely and classic looking sketch to share with you this week. For my sample, I used a piece of green card that I cut to form a 5.5 x 5.5" base. I used my corner rounder and cut each of the four corners with it. The lovely paper on top of the green card is <span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: black; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">We Are 3 digital paper from </span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/528039933/we-are-3-digital-paper-spring-letters?ref=shop_home_active_80" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #0066cc; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: underline; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;" target="_blank">"Spring Letter"</a><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: black; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"> set. <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: black; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">The scalloped background was created using a QuicKutz nesting Lace die. I cut it from a piece of the same green that I used as my card base. The image that I used is a vintage clipart from the web. I layered a piece of pink satin ribbon between the die cut and the image.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: black; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br /></span></span></div>

It would make a lovely birthday card, sympathy card, thinking of you card or get well card. </span></span></div>

I always enjoy seeing what our followers do with our sketches. If you have a chance, would love to see you make something and enter it on the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. You just might be the lucky winner of one of the weekly prizes.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches is a quick and easy way to make an elegant looking card. Depending on the papers, the image and the embellishments, this sketch can actually be cute and fun or elegant and lovely. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Again, I have used papers from the We Are 3 Digital Papers collection called "At the Beach." The top one is gray polka dots on a blue background. The bottom one is the "boardwalk" pattern with lovely greens, blues, browns, pinks and gray. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used a white base card and used approximately a 1/3 to 2/3 ratio of the two papers. I covered the "meet up" area with seafoam green ribbon to cover the seam. Instead of the circle, I used a Heartfelt Creations butterfly die, cutting the butterfly and swirls from a solid seafoam green card weight paper. I used this piece as my base in place of the circle. I then stamped the butterfly using seafoam green ink (Color Box), cut it with the die and adhered it along the body to the base butterfly. I folded the wings upward to give some dimension. I</span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> finished off my card with crystal gems to the left and slightly under the butterfly. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hope that you can join us this week at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. We really would like to see what you do with this lovely sketch. This week's prize is this lovely embossing folder called "Tiger Lily."</span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-88580960593431090702018-07-10T06:30:00.000-04:002018-07-10T06:30:14.988-04:00Shine<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Our sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches is going to look slightly different than my card. I turned the sketch from landscape to portrait. Here, let me show you:</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrW-Pad8fdnHzC20UN9oH7cWz6qMyMmQgF8Yfw6F3nDSXebdZYPtkXqysh6VKHXU1U0ELwn57UfhX4-RKHa5f9lEgDlSyDE_HIx03_wwuCu3IXLn7EDxlQEAjvw2YQ7_0opmviGwuwAco/s1600/TMS+_461.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="247" data-original-width="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrW-Pad8fdnHzC20UN9oH7cWz6qMyMmQgF8Yfw6F3nDSXebdZYPtkXqysh6VKHXU1U0ELwn57UfhX4-RKHa5f9lEgDlSyDE_HIx03_wwuCu3IXLn7EDxlQEAjvw2YQ7_0opmviGwuwAco/s1600/TMS+_461.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">In keeping with the integrity of the sketch, I have all the elements. I've just varied the, using different shapes and embellishments.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I started with a white 5 x 7" base. The base paper is from We Are 3, <a href="https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fshop%2FWeAre3&h=AT0YA3gytVqJxFRrralLQ7OylO-3OkA7bctUesE8i4Nxne2Jil3pCnBG67j3Z8YfmDmbv62D7oPQe1i23Qp5F7l6u9h0PUuCCEj9IxEO3JJ_CCdMtw4ePwDg62TjcbX8AykQxki3K7-cOC7OX4aQot1XAARyb7oVZ9k" target="_blank">"At the Beach"</a> set. It is called Seaweed. I've used a scalloped rectangle cut with a Spellbinder die from brown card. I then cut the lighthouse using a Marianne die from another piece of the At the Beach set called "Boardwalk." </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Instead of twine, I used a snippet of ribbon that I had in my stash. (I did go back after I took the picture and adhered the base paper at the bottom down a little better. I did not notice the ribbon had caused the paper to stick up on both sides where it was tucked under. I apologize for that, but it is now fixed.) Instead of the flower, I have used a real shell. I know that will make it slightly more difficult to mail, so I will either have to make a box envelop or slip this card in with a gift.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">The sentiment was computer generated and printed on the Boardwalk paper. It was punched using a scallop oval punch. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We have a super fun sketch this week -- perfect for using some of those scraps that you've been saving. Aw come on, you know you have a whole bag or box full (smile). Our sketch this week is by Melissa, and it looks like this:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ1xg-2zn_nZDFslWf4F7LY0qEVQ0uI6SvFVyjM4NblwZ838sWF8PVNdRpYNH658EqqIs3NVR5ZaeHY_HQX434rAloPLriJa3wrBjBGB-tk_-_o2iAwjSnVEZBPfxHFtOsoXwzXsRepIs/s1600/TMS+460.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="285" data-original-width="400" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ1xg-2zn_nZDFslWf4F7LY0qEVQ0uI6SvFVyjM4NblwZ838sWF8PVNdRpYNH658EqqIs3NVR5ZaeHY_HQX434rAloPLriJa3wrBjBGB-tk_-_o2iAwjSnVEZBPfxHFtOsoXwzXsRepIs/s320/TMS+460.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We also have another surprise embellishment bag as this week's prize. The bag will contain some fun embellishments and a small stamp set -- maybe you can use them in an upcoming sketch challenge -- hum?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am not going to be able to give you a whole lot of information about my card because I did raid my scraps for every bit of the card except the sentiment and the card base. I started with a white 5 x 7" card. The background is a green and white. The top square and the two on the right side of each row are from another piece of paper I found in my scrap bag. The next two (move left) are from a second sheet, and the last one (bottom row) from a third sheet. I don't think any of them are from the same "set" of papers, but they all matched quite nicely. The chipboard sentiment actually matches the flowers in the set of 3 squares with flowers and leaves.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Some of you may remember that I have a friend who has been going through chemotherapy. I try to send her a card weekly to let her know that I am thinking of her and praying for her. The last time I saw her, she said that the cancer is responding favorably to the chemo. This is great news and made me quite happy. I plan on sending this card to her!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I apologize for not getting my blog posted last week. I did make my DT card (as you may know if you visited the TMS blog), but I have been meeting myself coming and going lately. In addition to six days a week work weeks for the past several weeks, I now am trying to work in those yearly doctor's appointments (mammogram, physicals, etc.). I guess my Doc was trying to help me out because her office had scheduled me for two different procedures this morning for the same time at two different places -- like completely across town from each other! Anyway, hoping things will start to slow down soon, and I can get back on track again.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Happy crafting, friends --</span>Jenéehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06146420606691085551noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993958670194301298.post-89200391573338147342018-06-19T10:10:00.000-04:002018-06-19T10:10:44.358-04:00Love and Kisses<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">We have a wonderful sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. It is simple but elegant, and it is quick to create without looking as if you don't care. Here is our wonderful sketch:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIiR7Uo1M6tAMcQO3JNwooQjBabZ7VvovWHKbF885rMPpLmGRdnAYkwvbDkUh4UAvqmPob_9zPJF6J1HMl6R3wNJxZOJmli5yxUkqFhz5e3kKUAPd0TmDGe-tOEbrFum6AXkGahoANem0/s1600/TMS+458.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="254" data-original-width="327" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIiR7Uo1M6tAMcQO3JNwooQjBabZ7VvovWHKbF885rMPpLmGRdnAYkwvbDkUh4UAvqmPob_9zPJF6J1HMl6R3wNJxZOJmli5yxUkqFhz5e3kKUAPd0TmDGe-tOEbrFum6AXkGahoANem0/s320/TMS+458.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In addition, we have a super prize for some lucky follower this week. Here it is:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpkfhx4V4GYm0pfuz5T-pRR7C9KsH2OVNruY2cp7Nc_veZETlQRMqosA84vEMwpLuyZQUissM0oEUfx4w9D8FQ9SMurw5xoSv8DQhXNIRi_3-77-oKN7AwKWyxEpy6lRzmd6QPiw2oAw/s1600/84a7d4e01f9287fe5ab142ab69e6a8bf.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="541" data-original-width="307" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpkfhx4V4GYm0pfuz5T-pRR7C9KsH2OVNruY2cp7Nc_veZETlQRMqosA84vEMwpLuyZQUissM0oEUfx4w9D8FQ9SMurw5xoSv8DQhXNIRi_3-77-oKN7AwKWyxEpy6lRzmd6QPiw2oAw/s320/84a7d4e01f9287fe5ab142ab69e6a8bf.png" width="181" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have once again used beautiful papers from We Are 3 to create my card. These papers are from the Tropical Delights set. The lovely hibiscus flower provides the background for my card (a white card base). The bottom oval (under the sentiment) is also from that set. The lovely thing about the We Are 3 digital papers is they are created to compliment each other, so cards go together so much easier and quicker than having to dig through the hundreds of papers I have in my stash. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I found a lovely green ribbon with picot edges and used a beautiful "Just Rite" sentiment stamp and Stampin Up ink to finish off my card.</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Don't know about where you live, but the temperatures have been in the high 80's/low 90's F here in my part of the US. It isn't even officially summer as yet, so hoping Mother Nature doesn't take our temperatures any higher this year. At any rate stay cool (or in the case of my friends and followers down under, stay warm) and show me some lovely crafting!</span> </div>
<div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hello! I hope everyone is doing well. We are slightly melting here in the deep south (USA) with temperatures reaching the 90's F during the day. Had a nice rain storm last night, so hopefully that will cool things down a bit, and to think it isn't even summer as yet!</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">This week's Tuesday Morning Sketch is a lovely, classic design:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW7hmH1cGGFsoRGiWVXshoQCYwBfMWEgpys3lDtXVcpnFu_DEs5iwA-7Ifh47DWGn2sfA5I9279aySUMjAsCWJzWgFEG5gx2Phv3DFsFFmEe1OduLpzWhsI0qJIAnJQNIGtdgOKiSy04I/s1600/TMS+457.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="312" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW7hmH1cGGFsoRGiWVXshoQCYwBfMWEgpys3lDtXVcpnFu_DEs5iwA-7Ifh47DWGn2sfA5I9279aySUMjAsCWJzWgFEG5gx2Phv3DFsFFmEe1OduLpzWhsI0qJIAnJQNIGtdgOKiSy04I/s320/TMS+457.jpg" width="249" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have combined the sketch with We Are 3 <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/604247164/we-are-3-digital-paper-tropical-delight?ref=shop_home_feat_1" target="_blank">Tropical Delights</a> papers. This is a fun set of papers with tropical vibes, but as you can see, work nicely with our classical sketch. I printed off several of the papers, using two for the background, one for the scalloped matting and the same for the lovely scallops.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I used a Heartfelt Creations die to make the flower (stamping rose pink ink onto pink card and HC pearls for the center). I finished off my card using three Recollections pearls along the end of one flourish swirl. My swirls were cut using Sizzix dies.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">This was a lovely sketch to use, and the color combination of the tropical papers made for a lovely, feminine version of our sketch. We would LUV to see what you can do with this week's sketch. <br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hello, and welcome to another week. This week's Tuesday Morning sketch is a bit unique but fun to work with. Here is the sketch:</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl9Yll6TWLmJp8hB16wSkJ0fGjzIdgUb8QbA_U4X63zsAL53ojinbVqx9DEMFPlU9R8kzRX7UHc6faXEG7GgeJ_fkpBIXErDL9A4BRkKIKohaeKwWYg6pLNJT3qP_UQKOA9p6qoPpEicc/s1600/TMS+456.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="562" data-original-width="438" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl9Yll6TWLmJp8hB16wSkJ0fGjzIdgUb8QbA_U4X63zsAL53ojinbVqx9DEMFPlU9R8kzRX7UHc6faXEG7GgeJ_fkpBIXErDL9A4BRkKIKohaeKwWYg6pLNJT3qP_UQKOA9p6qoPpEicc/s320/TMS+456.jpg" width="249" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>

<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #404040; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">This card may look complicated, but it was super easy to make. I printed both pieces of paper from the dragonflies collection. I cut a deep purple for my card and layered the dragonflies on top. I then cut a triangle from my second piece of paper and adhered it on top of the dragonflies paper. I cut a pink shape using a Sizzix thin die. I didn't have a larger die for that shape, so I took the original die and traced around it to create the dark purple shape. I fussy cut it by hand.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #404040; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #404040; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">The gems are purple pearls by Recollections. The dragonfly on the pink piece is a rubber Stamp. I added small pearls along the body. The sentiment is also stamped and cut with a fishtail shape die.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: transparent; color: #404040; display: inline !important; float: none; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;">As I said, this card looks as if it requires a lot of thought, time and effort, but is really easy-peesy! Your friends will feel really special getting a card made with this sketch.</span></div>
