Tuesday Morning Sketches #289

Good morning friends.  I have a new card and sketch for you today for our Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge. I really like this sketch, and I think you will, too. The DT have provided some lovely and versatile samples for you over on the blog. I hope you will take a look at them.

All right, let's get started. Here is the sketch:

I have used a white card base, blue card and DP by K&Company. The image, colored with Copic markers, is by Inky Impressions. The brads are "sugar coated" which means they have a sweet sparkle about them. The rose also has the sugar coated sparkle. The leaves are punched out of the same blue card used for the matting.  I used a Spellbinder oval die to cut out the image and softly inked the edge of the oval with pink Colorbox ink.

More Poodle Fun

Every 1st, 3rd and 4th Fridays, Sami introduces some new images. Last time and this one have been devoted to poodles. I think I may have mentioned that we once had a cute, white toy poodle who had a fancy schmancy registered name but whom we called Dandy on a day-to-day basis. We pretty much kept Dandy cut in the same style as the one on my card (minus the ribbons, of course). Poodle hair is quite curly, so the pom-poms were actually a mass of little curls. I have tried to capture that curly look with my coloring. However, before I talk further about my card, let me show you thumb nails of the entire release.

I did color my image with Copic markers, then cut it into an oval shape using Spellbinder oval die. The base card is white. The blue card is Bazzell. The blue stripe and the floral DP is from a pad by Memory Makers. The "lace" is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are from a Martha Stewart punch. The two pearls are from Recollections, and the sentiment is by Amy Tangerine.

Make a Wish

Happy Tuesday! We have a brand new sketch for you this week, having finished our retro 2014 favorites. This one was originally supposed to be for Valentine's Day, not realizing it would actually fall the week after Valentine instead of before (yikes). However, the sketch still works because of its versatility (and if you don't believe me, go take a look at what the DT did with the sketch!! So, here is the sketch:

I have used a 5 x 7" white card base, yellow dotty paper (from my scrap bag) and red card. I rounded the corners of the dotty paper with my Creative Memories corner rounder punch. The image I've used is called Birthday Hat Cocoa colored. Using my Spellbinder circle dies, I have cut the image out and I have cut the red circle around the image. (I cut the red circle by using two sizes of circles, cutting them both at the same time so that the center came out leaving the outside circle to go around the image.) The wish sticker is a fabric sticker from Amy Tangerine. The buttons are from my button box

Birthday Party Boy

Thank you for joining me for our last retro sketch. Nina picked her favorite this week from the wonderful 2014 sketches. It is by a former DT member, Laura Nehring. It is an easy sketch and great for those clean and simple cards. Of course, you aren't limited to CAS and can embellish away if you so desire.

Now, here is this week's sketch:

The image I am using is called Birthday Party Boy. I have printed it onto X-Press It brand card and colored it with my Copic markers. Starting with a white 5 x 7" card, I've layered a piece of blue on top. I then cut a colorful strip of striped paper and laid it across the blue. My image was cut with a Spellbinder circle die which I placed on top of a Spellbinder scalloped circle which I cut from yellow paper. All the paper is from a Paperage pad called Cupcakes and Cherries. Lastly, I printed the sentiment onto the yellow paper then matted it with the blue followed by the yellow again.

Valentine Feathers

Sami of Sami Stamps has released another adorable set of images. This week she has combined birds and hearts. Here are the thumb nail images:

There is also a new challenge starting (Anything Goes as long as you use a Sami image), and to make it easier for you to join in, Sami is offering free images in the online store and on Facebook! In fact, a little birdy told me that the image I've used for my DT card is one of the free images. HA!

I have used Valentine Feathers for my card. I have colored it with Copic markers and then cut it out using a Spellbinder tag die. The tag behind the image was self made using the QuicKutz Nesting Doilies die.

The card is pink card, and the heart paper is from We R Memory Keepers. The three roses are hand made, and the leaves are cut using a Spellbinder die. The sentiment is from a Mulberry Wood stamp set.

Adventure in Vinyl

I received a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine for Christmas from a dear friend. She and I get together every other Wednesday and craft, and we've been doing this for a number of years. My sweet friend had a Silhouette and felt that I would very much enjoy the machine for my own. Well, my friend could have saved her money because thus far, I'm still using her machine for crafting (grin). My work schedule has been such that the only crafting I've been doing since Christmas is my weekly DT projects and my play dates with my friend.

Anyway, we've been playing with vinyl for the past could of weeks. We both said that we were not going to get "involved" with vinyl - HA! famous last words. Dottie has done more with it than I (see explanation above - smile), and has even gotten a bit addicted to this new medium! 

Today was our Wednesday play date, so we each made a tile plaque. These are done on a white 8 x 8" ceramic tile (ok, in truth the tile is 7 3/4 x 7 3/4," but it is listed as 8 x 8). I have used a burgundy colored vinyl for my tile to match my front door. The Hubs is going to make a frame for the tile, and we are going to hang it outside beside the front door (ok, that's the theory; I'll let you know when it actually happens). 

I was rather pleased with how this turned out, and I plan to make a second one for our mailbox changing out the Est. 1965 for our street address. Well, we'll see. . .

Welcome Baby Girl

Happy Tuesday morning! I'm so glad you are back to see me today. Thanks for stopping by. We have another revisited sketch for you, and I know you are going to like it loads. We also have a fantabulous sponsor!

My image is called Arm Full of Love. We have a new baby in the family -- my husband's niece just gave birth to a little girl (after three adorable boys), so I went with a baby girl theme for my card. I colored the image with Copic markers after printed it off onto X-Press It brand card. I then cut it into a circle using a Spellbinder circle die. The card itself is white (5 x 7").

I layered green card and then pink dotty paper (DCWV). The printed piece is also from the DCWV pad, and I matted that with the green. My beautiful crochet circle was made by our very own Jessi Fogan, and the ribbon is from a little spool I picked up in the dollar bin at a Target store. My white lace was the last little bit on a spool that I purchased from Michael's. (I'm sad to see that go as I liked that lace.) Rather than putting my pearls in a row (as in the sketch), I place a pearl in each of the first three dips of the crocheted scallop. Lastly, I brought in a little more of the green by adding the corner piece at the top left (Cherry Lynn corner die).

I was not entirely sure about the citrus green combined with the pink, but that is the color that was used in the paper that was in the pad (baby prints), so it did work.
