Christmas at Inky

I'm back again. This time with my DT card for Inky Impressions. Our theme this week is CHRISTMAS, and I've used one of our wonderful rubber stamps called "MarLeigha's Ornament Dance" (MR11-MOD08). If you haven't tried one of our rubber stamps, you really should. They are wonderfully eched, red rubber back with cling for instant use -- no prep other than pulling them out of the bag, putting them on your acrylic block and inking them up. You will get a perfect image every time!

I used Momento tuxedo black,  X-press It brand card and Copic markers. I then cut my image into a circle using a Spellbinder circle die. I then mounted the circle on top of the Spellbinder Stately Circles die (S4-388) which I cut from the burgundy colored paper.

My card is white with a mat of green and then my striped DP. I also cut about a 2" strip to go on top of the striped DP. The ribbon I used is a beautiful ecru with gold threads which I tied into a double loop bow. The white poinsettia is by K&Co, and I placed that on top of gold leaves. Under the leaves, I've added gold swirls made with another Cheery Lynn die. I placed the poinsettia close to the image so that it would appear that MarLeigha is about to add her ornament.

Christmas is starting to get awfully close, so if you have not started making your Christmas cards (or haven't made all of them), this challenge is perfect for you. Any Winged Creature

This week at Flutter By Wednesday, our theme is the ever popular "ANY" winged creature. This means that you can use anything on your card as long as it has wings -- dragonflies to angels, dragons to flying kitties (LOL)! My image this week is from The Paper Shelter and is called "Anyone Can Fly." Isn't it just the cutest? (I know, I say that about a lot of the images I use -- think there is a trend there?).

I fell in {heart} with this image for several reasons. First, the little fairy girl is totally charming. Second, I'm a kitty fancier, so anything with a kitty is going to grab at my heart strings. Third, I thought the title of the image was rather metaphorical because I really believe that with the right encouragement, everyone has the potential, not to actually fly, but to soar to whatever achievement their heart truly wants.

My card base, this time, is green card. I've added a layer of yellow matting and then green and yellow DP. My image is colored with Copic markers, cut into a square and double matted with yellow and green card. The doily behind my image is cut using Cheery Lynn Design Swedish Spring Oval Frame (FRM135 from Dutch Paper Crafts). I've added pearls to the doily and also to the corners of the green DP. The yellow ribbon, bow and flower finish off my simple little card. The sentiment, "I knew you could" was computer generated and cut using a Spellbinder circle die and then a slightly larger circle cut with a Creative Memories punch.

Happy Tuesday to all of you. This week we not only have a unique and lovely sketch for you to follow, but our sponsor is Saturated Canary. I know many of you just {heart} those adorable images by Krista Smith, so you are going to want to make sure you join in our challenge! Here is the sketch for you to use this week:

Did Melissa challenge us or what? You'll want to visit the TMS blog and have a look at the wonderful samples that the DT have created to tickle your Muses! There are some real beauties to feast your eyes upon!

For my card, I've used Neveah. I printed her onto X-Press It card and colored her with my Copic makers. I was so proud of myself as I actually remembered to copy down the colors I used -- only to have to go digging through my trash bin to find the paper I wrote them down on (silly me)! Her hair is colored with E55, E53, E51 abd E50. Her skin is E11, E01 and E00.. Her dress is B24, B23, B21, B12, B0000 and highlighted with Stickles Midnight. Her shoes are B23, B21, B12.

I've used a white 5" x 7" card for my base, and the background DP came from my scrap bin. The blue card (matting and oval doily) are Close To My Heart midnight. I used Spellbinder's stately ovals die to cut the doily. The snowflakes are punched from DCWV silver glitter paper using a Martha Stewart punch. I also used the silver glitter paper as a mat (between the white card base and the midnight blue mat).

A Hoot of a Witch

You only have one more week...

That's right October is almost over and so is the Halloween Challenge at  Sami Stamps! Hurry and enter..did you see the prize????  All you need is one of her stamps and to use Halloween colors..and guess what else....Sami offers free images so that you can play along in her challenges. Of course, once you see her wonderful digital creations, you will want to buy your own. The image I've used on my card is from her Witches and Wiskers - Fashionable Halloween set which was released last week.

I've colored my image with Copic markers -- isn't she quite a fashionable witch? I've used black and purple cardstock, and some purple/white DP from my stash. Once again, I used the front folded card. (I know, that makes three of them, but I really was having fun with that new technique and using different dies for the front.) The dies on the front are by Spellbinder, and the two circle doily dies to the side are by Joy Craft (bottom one) and QuicKutz (tan one). The flourish swirls are by Doohicky. The flowers I used are by Recollections and Wild Orchid Crafts.

As it is Wednesday, I'm back with my second card for the day. It is also time for another Inky Impressions challenge, and this week we would like you to make a Halloween card OR use orange and black on your card.

As mentioned (probably more than once), I don't have a lot in the way of Halloween, so I decided to use the rubber stamp "Pirate Christopher" (CS110-PC07) as a dressed up trick-or-treater. All he needs is a big bag for collecting his bounty of Halloween treats, and he'll be all set to have a good time on 31st October!

I have stamped Christoper onto X-Press It brand card using Momento black ink and colored him with Copic markers. My card base is a white 6 x 6" card. As with my other card for today, I've folded the front back on itself. I've used black card for my matting, and my DP is from a Halloween pad by Martha Stewart. The front die (which fit over the colored image piece) is an orange frame I found in my stash. The black swirl on the side was cut from black and silver paper using Doohickeys die 010607004-5, and the smaller white swirl is cut with Doohickeys BDH Heart Swirl die. The two skulls are chipboard and were cut off a bigger chipboard design I found in my stash. Aren't they cute? They have googly eyes! The corner piece on the inside of the card is a Spellbinder die. You can't quite tell from the photo, because of the black and silver coloring, but it is somewhat web-shaped.

No Black or Orange

Happy Wednesday, ya'll. Time for another challenge at Flutter By Wednesday, and this week our only requirement (besides using a butterfly or fairy) is that you NOT use any black or orange on your card. I've chosen, this week, to use this sweet image from Tiddy Inks which I've colored with my Copic markers. I've added yellow Stickles to her wings for a bit of fairy dust sparkle, and I've inked around the edge with Colorbox ink.

My card base is purple card. The base is 6 x 6" but I've folded the front back on itself. I then cut a circle using Spellbinder's Stately Circles die which I adhered to the front panel only. The image, itself, was cut using the Spellbinder regular circle die. My DP is from the Recollections collection "Habitat." My flowers are from Recollections and Wild Orchid Crafts. The large butterfly was cut from a coordinating piece of DP from the Habitat collection. My leaves were punched using a Martha Stewart punch.

Tuesday in Circles

Good Morning friends!  I hope you're doing well and ready to play along with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  We have a great sketch and a super special sponsor this week.  Our very own Jessi Fogan is sponsoring and offering these GORGEOUS hand-crocheted mats as the prize!

So let's get to the sketch, it's only fitting that this week's sketch is also created by Jessi.  

Now, here is MY card for this week:

For this card, I've used a white 5 x 7" card base. I've added a blue mat and then a piece of pink DP. I've also used an image from Sugar Nellie which I matted with the blue and then placed on my beautiful mat by Jessi. I then added two blue circles which I cut using the Spellbinder scalloped circle die and two circles which I cut from DP using the Spellbinder circle die. I added a pearl to the center of the last two circles, a couple of tiny pearls to the flowers on the image, and two different sized pearls on the upper right and lower left corners.

Fall is in the Air

Two Inky's in a row! Did you participate yesterday in our new release blog hop? If not, you will want to go to the Inky blog and follow the links to some fantastic new images and beautiful creations by the Inky team. Today, however, is our regular challenge day, and this week we want you to show us your FALL creations. As always, we have a fab prize of a $10 gift certificate to our webstore.

Fall and October bring pumpkins, so I've used the adorable rubber stamp called "Lili's Pumpkin" for my card. I stamped her off onto X-Press It band card with Momento ink and colored her up with my Copic markers. She's picked a perfect pumpkin for her Halloween jack-o-lantern.

I've used a white card base and rust colored card for my matting. The background paper is a single sheet I purchased from Michael's Crafts, and the other two DPs are from a 6 x 6" pad that I have. I matted the two DPs with the rust. I then matted Lili with a gold-ish yellow and the rust. My two corner pieces were cut using a QuicKutz die that I picked up on sale from Michael's Crafts. My ribbon is by Offray, and the little pumpkin I placed in the center of the bow is from my stash. I'm afraid I've had it for some time, so cannot tell you the manufacture.

Flutter with a Sketch

Hi my Flutter By friends. This week we have a fantastic sketch by our own Kathy Curry for you to use. Here it is:

It's a great sketch, right? Sadly (hanging head), I left off the square. I, unfortunately, printed my image too large, so I ended up having to fussy cut it (otherwise, my circle would have been covered). My story (and I'm sticking to it) is the image is somewhat square in shape (look hard) so I didn't need the square (smile).

OK, enough with the excuses, it is time to share my card with you (in all its flawed glory - HA!). So here it is:

My beautiful image is "Fairy Nichole" from Wags and Whiskers. Isn't she lovely? I've colored her with Copic markers in green, pink and burgundy colors. The DP is from the Recollections pad called "Habitat." This is a lovely pad of papers (12 x 12" size), and I've used papers from it previously for one of my ADFD fairies. You may be seeing a lot of this paper (smile). I've added a burgundy velvet ribbon to the center of my side panel (thus, giving it the look of the two panels in the sketch), and the circle doily behind the fairy is also burgundy (although it photographed a bit brownish looking). I cut the circle with QuicKutz Nesting Floral Doilies die (DC0434 from Dutch Paper Crafts). The two DPs are matted with dark green card.

Happy Tuesday! It is time for challenge # 220 at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Can you believe we've shared 220 sketches to inspire you in your card making and scrapbook pages? That's a lot of inspiration! Here is our new sketch for you:

This week our sponsor is The Doodle Pantry, and I have used their wonderful sheet of images (both colored and line) called "Wear Pink" for my card. As you are aware by now, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Last week I shared some of my personal journey with breast cancer (as I did last year), so I'm not going to go there again today. 

Because of a busy schedule (I almost didn't get my card done for this week), I have used one of the pre-colored images for my card to save time. The "Wear Pink" set comes with several images, both pre-colored and line, plus the sentiment that I've used. A very nice package that can be used for non-cancer related cards as well as the pink ribbon cards.

I have used a white card base and brown card for matting. My pink DPs are from an Echo Park 6 x 6" pad called This & That by Lori Whitlock. I've kept this card very simple (again, time constraints), but I think that it turned out really nice with the simple layers and the fish-tail strip on the side.

Glitter and Glitz

Time for another Inky Impressions challenge. This week we'd like to see some glitter and glitz to your work. This was right up my little granddaughter's ally as she is the glitter queen and believes the more the better (grin). I, on the other hand, prefer just a light sprinkling or none at all. It isn't that I don't totally dislike glitter; it is more a case of glitter does not like me. It gets everywhere (even when I'm just using Stickles -- which you know I do use). This card is an example of the stray glitter (lol). Thank goodness you can't totally tell from the photo, but believe me when I tell you I was brushing glitter off of the card, my table, my clothes, etc. for several hours!

I do so like this little Inky fairy. She just has the sweetest face, and she looks so cheery in your yellow and green costume. My card base is white, and my DPs have all come from the Quite Contrary Jack & Jill designer 6 x 6" paper pad. The matting is brown card (and I do wish I'd not added the brown corner die, but by the time I decided I didn't really care for it, the glue was dry, and I could not get it up without tearing my card - oh well, those things happen, eh?). The corner is a Joy Crafts corner die (6002/0136, available from Dutch Paper Crafts).  I've added some small clear rhinestone gems around the colored image, stickles on the wings, a yellow flower (Recollections) and a multi-loop bow made from seam binding ribbon.

Happy "Holly" Days

Happy Wednesday everyone. Time to flutter by with us at Flutter By Wednesday, and this week I've used this darling Bugaboo holly fairy as my fluttery friend. We do have a TWIST for you this week to challenge your creative talents. We'd like for you to use a butterfly or fairy, as usual, but we'd also like you to use 3 decorative papers, 3 embellishments, and a bit of glitz. That may sound like a lot, but it really isn't -- in fact, one of the DT members managed to get all the requirements in and still keep her card CAS! You'll have to go check it out.

I colored my little holly fairy with my Copic pens, and I have used DPs from a Recollections 6x6" pad called Sugar Plums. I started with my usual white card base and have matted all of my DPs and my image with red card. My three embellishments also add a bit of glitz to my card as I've used ribbon (from Michael's) with metallic thread running through it, a small holly piece with glittery leaves and red gem (also from Michael's), and three red gems at the top (Michael's Crafts). Whew, I didn't realize this card was going to be an ad for Michael's Craft store (smile).

An Angel of a Sketch

Happy Tuesday morning to all of you. We, once again, have a great sketch for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches which I hope will inspire you to play along in our weekly challenge. We also have a TWIST this week in that we are asking you to use a fancy die. This week we are being sponsored by StampingScrapping. The fun place to shop for all your stamping and scrapping needs. For my card, I have not quite "flipped" the image, but I have used the vertical direction rather than the horizonal. I've used a white card base and a DP from Teresa Collins (Christmas Cottage 6x6" designer pad). I matted the DP with cranberry red card. I also cut my decorative square and my corner piece from the same piece of card stock. The decorative square is Spellbinders Fleur de Lis, and the decorative corner is Angel Corner by Poppy Stamps (955, available through Dutch Paper Crafts). My image is Marci Angel by La La Land stamps, and I've colored her with Copic markers. I've used Stickles on her wings and her halo. I fussy cut her and placed her over the decorative square. My sentiment is a clear stamp which I got in a set as a freebie with a British stamp magazine that I purchased last year. I used cranberry ink.

Fight Like A Girl

Hi Everyone,  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I am a breast cancer survivor, so this is a very special and personal time for me. This disease effects more than 1 out of every 8 women all over the world and many men as well! Although cancer, in various forms, has effected varies members of my family, I was the first to have breast cancer. Thus, do not assume that since it does not run in your family that you are exempt or "safe" from it.  

I created this card as a reminder to all of my friends that getting a yearly mammogram, though irritating and uncomfortable, is still an effective method of detecting this ugly disease. I also believe in self examinations, a simple monthly procedure that takes you no more than 5 minutes to accomplish. Be familiar with your body and trust yourself to know when something has changed. Also, be familiar with some of the more "common" symptoms of breast problems -- burning or pain in the breast, swelling, tenderness for no apparent reason, changes in skin texture, and hardening of tissue around the nipple. Early detection CAN save lives, and knowledge is powerful.

Do not be afraid. Do not assume the worse. A significantly high number of tumors, cysts or other abnormalities women experience with their breasts are NOT cancerous at all. However, they should not be ignored. Even the most innocent of things have the possibility of changing and becoming more serious if nothing is done. Pull up your big girl panties and see your doctor. Simple procedures or mild medications can easily take care of those.

We have come a long way in the fight to find a cure for all forms of cancers. There is still a long way to go, however, and I don't know if we will ever be successful in completely eradicating it. But we cannot give up. We cannot stop trying. We cannot ignore. We must do what we women do best --

Feeling Spooky?

Sami's Stamps has a new release today -- all aout Halloween. This series features an adorable little cat (black or otherwise), jack-o-lanterns, and spooky spiders. Everything you need to create (not so) spooky cards and projects for the holiday. Along with the new release comes a new challenge, too, and here are the details:

That's easy, right? When you see Sami's line of stamps, the only "problem" you will have is deciding which image to use! Our first place challenge winner will win a $12 gift certificate to the Sami's Stamps store, and our second place winner will win a $8 gift certificate. 

The image from our new release that I've used is called "Witch's Cat." I've colored it with Copic markers and then layered it atop traditional Halloween colors and a cute DP of spooky eyes. I've added some orange dotty ribbon, a little tag that reads "Boo to you" and a couple of sticker bats. 

As you may be aware, we do not observe Halloween at my house, but I think this simple little card would delight any little (or big) goblin. Make It Blue

Wednesday is my double dose day as you are aware by now. In addition to fluttering by, I also get to share an adorable Inky Impressions image with you. This week our challenge is to use BLUE as your main color. I've used a similar layout (just flipping it) for this card as I did the fairy card I shared with you earlier. I've used the Tu-Tu Cute Lili rubber stamp which I stamped off onto X-Press It brand card using Momento black ink. I've colored her with my Copic markers. Doesn't she live up to her name?

My card base is a white 5.5" square. The matting card is Midnight Blue by Close to my Heart. The DPs are by Makingmemories and are from their multipack Sydney collection. Mike, Mike, Mike, what day is it?

It's hummmppp daaayyy! OK, I have to admit that I really {heart} that commercial, and I just couldn't resist using part of it. (I apologize to those of you who may not have seen the commercial on television or You-tube.) Today, being Wednesday, means it is time for another Flutter By Wednesday challenge. This week we'd like you to add your favorite embellishments -- ribbon, flowers, charms, twine, die cuts, gems, glitter, stickers -- whatever you consider your favorite (please tell us what it is). Of course, as always, you must use a butterfly or fairy somewhere on your card.

This week I'm featuring the sister of my little fairy from last week. Notice the (chubby) family resemblence (smile)? This cutie is also A Day for Daisies image which I've printed onto X-Press It brand card and colored with Copic markers. My favorite embellishments are a toss up between ribbons, flowers and pearls/gems, so I've use all three on this card.

The card base is white. The DPs are from my stash (three different brands), and I've used green card for my matting. The lacy oval die is by Marianne (CR1204 available from Dutch Paper Crafts), and as with last week's, I've cut the image into an oval using the out-of-the-box technique. I tied the sheer ribbon into a double bow and wrapped the stem (wire) of the purple rose around the middle. The leaf mini flourish behind the bow/rose is from Cheery Lynn Designs (B117S, also available from Dutch Paper Crafts). The pearls at the top of the card are from Recollections (Michael's Crafts).

Sweet and Sassy Tuesday

Did my title get your attention? It is time for another Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge with a brand new sketch for you, and this week we are being sponsored by Sweet and Sassy Stamps. Aha! you say as you see the connection, right? I know, may be a little corny, but  it is early in the day, so I haven't had my caffine quota as yet (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!).

First, let me share this week's sketch with you. It is a wonderful sketch -- so easy to use and quite versatile, actually.

I've used one of Sweet and Sassy Stamps adorable mouse images. Doesn't he look a bit mischievous hiding behind that apple? I've colored the image with Copic markers and fussy cut it (gasp, yes I actually fussy cut). The card is a white base with DPs from both My Mind's Eye and Jilly Bean paper pads, matted with brown card. The sentiment is computer generated, cut into an oval and matted with brown card. Both the oval and the scallop oval for the sentiment are Spellbinder dies. That's it. Cute image, fab sketch and a few designer papers, and I have a really nifty (if I say so myself) friendship card.
