Happy Easter with Tilda

Good Tuesday morning. Thank you for stopping by. We have a new sponsor, SVG Attic.  This is the first time we've ever had a SVG company as a sponsor. Some of you may not know, but I received a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas as a present from one of my best friends. I am still learning how to do everything with this wonderful machine, so I plan on visiting our sponsor's store. She has some really cute designs.

We have a fun sketch. Flip it, twist it, add your own flair. We just need to be able to see the basic sketch, and we can't wait to see what you create with it.  Here it is:

My card base is white 5" x 7" with a green mat under a purple (yes, that is purple and not blue as it appears in the photo) solid card. I have used a piece of DP from a Doodlebug Design Inc. 6" x 6" pad to create the scalloped piece under the image. I punched the scallop using a Martha Stewart punch, and I added a thin strip of the green matting down the side of the scalloped piece.

Instead of a button, I have used two paper flowers which I've stacked on top of each other. The center is a green pearl (Recollections). I matted the image and the sentiment with another solid purple (this one a bit redder than the original blue-toned purple -- both colors are on the patterned paper, although you may not quite tell from the photo). To finish off, I added two green pearls to each of the top corners.

My image is by Magnolia (Tilda and Chick) and is colored with Copic markers.

Now it is your turn. Use the sketch to make a card, scrapbook page, box top or whatever else you can imagine and then enter it at the Tuesday Morning Blog. Have a great week!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #293

Good morning sweet followers. It is Tuesday, so you know what that means -- another wonderful sketch for you. We are thrilled to have a new sponsor joining us.   Sweet Pea Stamps is here and we are so very excited and thankful for the opportunity to show off some of their incredible image. Sweet Pea Stamps is made up of a group of exceptionally talented artists with different styles and looks, so you will encounter a variety of wonderful images.

Our own Debbie created this week's sketch for you, and here it is:

I have used the lovely image  called Rosarna by Karen Middleton. Isn't she absolutely gorgeous? I colored her with Copic markers, then cut the image into a circle using a Spellbinder die. The burgundy card I used for all my matting is by DCWV. The patterned paper is from a pad I got as a free gift with a British stamping magazine, and the green solid background card is from Close to my Heart. The crystal rhinestones are by Studio G.

You definitely won't want to miss seeing the DT's samples this week over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. I think everyone really outdid themselves this week (if that's even possible with this talented team).

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you later!

Flowers and Kitties

Sami Stamps has another new release and the images are just wonderful, adorable, cute as can be -- I could go on, but I won't. Many of you know that I have three kitty babies (and a grand kitty-baby currently staying with me), so my house is filled with paws and purrs. Is it any wonder that I like this new set of images? They are all available in the Sami Stamps online store located HERE.

I have used the adorable Flower Hat image for my project, and I have pieced the flower using a scrap of patterned paper, a scrap of rose pink and a scrap of green. I printed a base image onto regular printer paper and then temporarily adhered the different bits of paper to it, running it through the computer each time. I printed my original base image onto X-Press It brand card so that I could use my Copic markers and "color" my kitty (using C000 and C00) to give a light shadow on the "white" kitty. I used two RV colors for her little nose, and I went around the kitty shape using B000 and B00 to make the image pop even more. I put the entire flower together (the three different pieces) before putting it on top of the base image. I found that was easiest for me rather than working with the original and trying to match up all the little pieces without getting any glue on the original.

My base card is a white 6" x 6" square. It has been a while since I worked with a square card, but I just felt it was needed for this project. All of the designer papers are by Echo Park's "Fine and Dandy" pady by Lori Whitlock. Aren't they fun prints and colors? The green mats are solid card. The green gingham ribbon is the absolute last I had on a roll, and I MUST find more as it was a favorite (sigh). The little flower was made by me by using five Prima paper flowers, scrunching them up, and gluing them together. The leaves are punched with a McGill hand punch. The sentiment is from an acrylic set by Tiddly Inks that I received for Christmas. I cut the oval shape with a Spellbinder die and then adhered it to a pink scalloped oval which I cut with a hand punch. I used foam dots to lift the sentiment oval up slightly. The butterfly is cut with a Martha Stewart hand punch.

I do hope you will drop by the blog or the store (hyper-link above) and take a look at the samples the DT have made using these adorable images. I know you will fall in love with them all and add them to your own collection. Also, a REMINDER that the challenge for this month is to make something using a Sami image and use the color GREEN. We so enjoy seeing all of the lovely entries each month, so show us YOURS!

Happy St. Paddy's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Are you wearing green? I definitely am because I don't want to be pinched (HA!), not to mention that I must honor my Irish ancestors on this day (yes, I have Irish on both my Mother's side and my Father's side of the family).

This week our dear team mate, Debbie, is sponsoring the challenge and is offering a nice Labels 8 by Spellbinder die set for the prize.

The sketch this week is deceptively simple. I say deceptively because it can be quite elegant, or whimsical, or classic or -- see, it can be whatever you want it to be depending on the image and papers you use. I just love those type of sketches as they tend to be quite usable. Let me show you the sketch. I know you will instantly see what I mean:

I flipped the sketch so that I have a vertical orientation rather than a horizontal one. The white base card is 5" x 7" with a sweet pink DP that I've matted with blue. The center strip is also a piece of the blue card I used for the matting. I dry embossed it using a "dotted Swiss" folder. (To be honest, I made my center strip wider than the one in the sketch appears to be because the vertical orientation made for more "white" space than the horizontal orientation.) My image is by The Paper Shelter, and I colored it with Copic Markers. I also matted the image with the blue card. The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the "fern" is from a Martha Stewart punch. If you look closely, you will see tiny seed pearls on every other flower in her hair. I carried used larger pearls in the upper right corner to finish off the front.

I don't know what I will use the card for as yet, so I have not given the card a sentiment; however, there is room to place one (perhaps a circular one) overlapping either upper corner of the rectangle on which the image is printed.

The DT have really done a wonderful job with this sketch. You will definitely want to run over to the Tuesday Morning blog and feast your eyes on their gorgeous samples. Then head on into your crafty space and show us what you do with this great sketch.

Tuesday Morning Friends

While at work last night, I remembered that I had not written up my blog for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches, and I reminded myself to do it when I arrived home. HA! Have I mentioned that "the old gray matter just ain't what she used to be?" (Does anyone besides me remember that song, "The Old Gray Mare"?) It did not take long at all for the self reminder to head south never to be thought of again until this morning!

This week our sketch is:

Quite lovely, eh? Our sponsor is  Deedee's Digis. DeeDee Anderson is always a generous sponsor.

I have used one of the free image sets called True Friends. I used the pre-colored image, but it does come in B&W line also so you can do your own coloring.

I started with a white card base (5" x 7") then using some of my multitude of scraps, I cut a piece of DP for the front and matted it with blue card. I then cut another scrap 1.5" wide and matted it with the blue. On top of the 1.5" strip, I adhered white grosgrain ribbon. I mounted the image to two layers of a Spellbinder's die cuts. I mounted that to the card using foam dots, raising them up slightly off the card base. The flower I used on the corner had a pink center, and I wanted red to go with the little bird in the image, so I saturated the middle area with my Copic colorless blender and then used one of the red Copic markers over the colorless blender -- this caused it to smoothly bleed out over the center changing the pink area to the red.

Even though my set comes with lovely sentiments, I wanted to use this card for a birthday rather than a friendship card, so I printed my own sentiment and matted it with the blue card stock.

Please stop by Tuesday Morning Sketches and have a look at the samples the DT have made for you using this sketch. Then, join us for this week's challenge. We have simplified the challenges this year in that we decided not to have the "twists" any more. Each week the challenge is simply to use the sketch provided. How easy is that?

Sami Stamps Release and Challenge #23

Good morning and Happy Friday! It's Release Week at  Sami Stamps today, and we also have a NEW Challenge for you to play along with for the month of March.

This week's collection is so much FUN and it's called Lucky Hats, plus there is a new beauty called Covered in Kitties!

Now lets look at all of the images being released.

The image I am using is called Lucky Leprechaun. Isn't he just the cutest? He looked a bit whimsical to me, so I colored and pieced him in that manner. I used a dotty paper for his shirt and a striped paper for his pants. I colored the rest of the image with Copic markers.

My card base is 5 x 7" card. I used the same paper that I'd used for his pants as my background paper and matted it with black. I used another paper for my strip down the front and also matted that with black, punching a scallop edge on one side (Martha Stewart punch). The patterned papers are from my scrap pile. The gold ribbon is from Offray, and the gold shamrock charm is from my stash. My Erin Go Bragh (which translated means "Ireland forever") is computer generated and matted with black.

I have Irish ancestors on both sides of my family (mother and father), so St. Paddy's Day is special for us. However, there is a saying that "once a year everyone is a little Irish" so remember to wear a little green March 17, and in the mean time, join the new challenge at Sami Stamps.

Christ Will Come Again

Good morning friends. Happy Tuesday and thank you for stopping by for another TMS sketch. This week's sketch is brought to you by me. Yes, I have come up with this sweet, versatile sketch for you to use. I hope you will like it and find yourself using it over and over.

Here is the sketch:

This week's sponsor is DRS Designs, a fantastic store to get all sorts of amazing, high quality rubber stamps. They are also the leading advocate for the Operation Write Home program. I am especially fond of their Christian sentiment and image stamps.

I am using the sentiment "Christ has Died" and the "Circle Lily" stamps from our sponsor. Rather than making them two separate elements, I have place the sentiment beside the image to create one piece. I colored the lilies with a pale pink and light green and then shaded around the flowers with BG0000 and BG000.

Although this is a good sketch for using some of those many scraps we all have, I wanted to keep with the soft, pastel palette, so I cut my background and circles from a DCWV pad. The pink ribbon is by Offray, and the pink pearl swirls are by Recollections.

I hope you will join us this week over at Tuesday Morning Sketches and enter a card in our challenge. We've been having some lovely entries for the past several weeks, and I hope to see more this week (as well as the weeks to come).
