Besties on Tuesday Morning Sketches

Good morning! It is a lovely, but HOT, Tuesday here in Georgia. The sun is out in full, truly southern, force (smile). This week our sponsor is My Besties by Sherri Baldy. and our new sketch is by our own Kris B. Here is our lovely sketch:

For my card this week, I am using part of the Big Eyed Tea image. I've colored it with Copic markers and cut it into the oval shape seen in the sketch. I've then used one of the Spellbinders fancy frames (Floral Ovals) cut from lavender card to place behind my image.

My card base is white with dp which has been matted with the same lavender that is behind the image. I've used three fish-tail banners (cut using #1005, Classic Ribbons die by Poppystamps) to bring in the colors found in my background dp, and I've matted each with the lavender card. I finished my card off with flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts, two leaves cut from green using die by LeCrea' Designs, and a tall green leaf sprig cut from green using a leaf die by La La Land Crafts (found in exclusive April club kit).

For an opportunity to win some lovely My Besties digital stamps, use the Tuesday Morning sketch above and enter your creation at the blog. While you are there, take a few minutes to look at the lovely cards the DT have made to inspire you using the My Besties images.

SVG Saturday (on Sunday)

For this one, I've used one of the new Bestie SVGs called Butterfly Border.

For this one, I've used the SVG File called Boots

I am have loads of fun using the new SVG files that Sherri Baldy has in her shop. The SVG files coordinate with many of the images we've all come to use and love, but they are versatile enough to stand alone or to be used with stamps/images you may already have. The files are easy to cut and to assemble.

To make your shopping even easier, Sherri has introduced a brand new store format with her images and SVGs in their own sections. She is also holding a big sale to make room for new items, so if you've been wanting to stock up on digies, stamps, SVGs or more, now is the time to do it.

See you soon. Until then, happy crafting!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #310

Happy Tuesday. This week's sketch is brought to you by teammate Debbie. It's a classic sketch that can be dressed up or kept simple. However, whichever way you might decide to go, it will give you a great card and a great look.

This week's sponsor is SLS Lines. This is a fun little digi shop on Etsy which offers digital images (stamps) and papers, so if you like the ability to print your own papers, you will find some lovely ones there.

Here is our sketch:

My sponsor provided image is called Lady with Roses in Hair. I've colored it with Copic markers. The papers I've used are some of the last in a pad I received with a stamp magazine printed in the UK. I am going to be sad when this pad is completely gone because the papers have been quite lovely, and I've enjoyed using them. The paper on top is pink roses, and the bottom is the lovely striped paper. I've used a piece of ribbon to separate the two.

The card base is white stock, and I've matted the digital image with a soft green. The flower is by Recollection, and the leaf swirls are cut with a Joy Craft die.

All right, friends, it is your turn to play along with this week's challenge. You can find it at the Tuesday Morning Sketches Blog. SLS Lines also has a challenge blog here. You may also want to enter their challenge and double your chances of winning some of their designs.

SVG Saturday

Hello everyone. I know this is Sunday and not Saturday, but I was away from the computer yesterday so couldn't post. My family and I were attending a birthday party yesterday to celebrate my Mother-in-law's 90th birthday! Such a blessing to be have this wonderful lady still with us. We were able to see family members that we had not seen in YEARS, and that was a joy, too.

As I think I mentioned, I was asked to be a member of Sherri Baldy's SVG design team. Sherri (and her right hand gal, Sher Brown) have been designing SVG files to go along with many of the images that are in the Etsy and the Scrapping Society stores. If you have an electronic cutting machine that uses SVG files, you can now add custome embellishments to your cards that match many of the images you've already grown to love.

For the card above, I have used:

SVG bow link: http://scrapbookstampsociety.com/auction_details.php…
Image 086 link: https://www.etsy.com/…/instant-download-digital-digi-stamps…

I colored the image with Copic markers after printing it on X-Press brand card. I have to thank my daughter, Amber, for helping me by picking out the papers I've used on this card. She spent about an hour one morning while I was at work going through my papers to find just the right ones to match the colors I'd used in the card. (Yes, I color first and then find the matching papers -- not always the smartest was of doing things - LOL!)

The SVG file for the bow border comes with the outline overlay and the solid fill pieces. I did find, because of how thin the overlay piece is, that a lighter weight card is best for cutting. I tried several weights, and finally got the best cut with the lighter weight (65 pound). I cut the bottom (solid) piece from dotty designer paper.

If you would like to see more designs, visit the Scrapbook Stamp Society store, or join us on Facebook at My-Besties Designs to see the beautiful samples the DT have made using the new files.

Back to School (Already?)

Good morning friends. Today's Tuesday Morning sketch was created by our own Jessie F. Our sponsor this week is DeeDee's Designs, a designer who provides fun, cute and unique designs in both pre-colored and black and white line for you to color yourself. Each design not only gives you the coloring option, but also provides possible sentiments for you to use if you wish.

Here is today's sketch:

I have used the "High School Daze" set for my card this week. Since my time was a bit tight, I used the pre-colored image of a student's backpack. I printed it and fussy cut the image.

My card base is blue. I placed a red paper with school symbols on top of the blue, and I cut a coordinating blue half oval for the side. The fish tail is a piece of the card base, and the red button is from my stash. I didn't use one of the suggested sentiments, but created my own on my computer, printed it off and matted it with a piece of the red DP.

Do stop by the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and have a look at the samples the DT have made this week. We would also like to invite you to use the sketch and join this week's challenge.

My Besties SVG

Hello my dear followers. I hope all of you are doing well. I have a new post today because I am on a new design team for the My Besties SVG files. This should be a fun team because we get to try out new SVG cuts, help work out any "bugs" and then show them off to you all for purchase. These are wonderful embellishments that will work with your electronic cutting machine.

I have colored the My Besties image called "Tea Cup" which can be found in HERE for purchase. I colored the image with Copic markers. The SVG file that I used is called "Teapot Border" and can be found for purchase HERE

I cut the SVG file twice. I cut it once out of the solid card that I had also used for my card base, and then I cut it a second time out of the pink dotty paper. I then cut the two large dotty pink teapots from the border and adhered them over the top of the aqua ones. I added tiny pink beads to the top of the green teapots for a little added bling (as you all know, I do like my bling!!).

I was not aware of the My Bestie's SVG files until I was asked if I would be interested in being on the DT. However, there are some really charming cuts available, so I know I am going to have fun, fun, fun with this DT. You really should check them out if you have a machine that can use SVG files.

Tuesday on Friday

I sincerely apologize for totally being out of it this week. My work schedule is all wonky due to one of my coworkers taking a summer holiday and the rest of us having to take up the slack. I have one more week of wonkiness (not sure if that is really a word, but it works for me), and then I will be back to my regular schedule.

This week's challenge sketch is:

Isn't that a nice, classic sketch? It can be used over and over and never look the same, it is that classic of a design.

We are being sponsored this week by  Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet

I have used the Butterfly Love image for my card. I colored this beautiful image with Copic markers and then put a coat of Stickles Diamond Dust glitter on the wings. My card base is green, and the decorative papers are both from the same 6x6" pack of paper. I added white ribbon and a small pink rose to finish off the composition.

I kept the card clean and simple because of the busy background paper. I felt that adding anything else to the card (except possibly a sentiment) would make the front too cluttered and detract from the lovely image.

I am rather late with this post, but if you do happen to be here, and you have a few more minutes, please stop by the Tuesday Morning Sketches Blog and have a look at the cards that the DT have made this week to inspire you. It also is not too late to create a lovely of your own and enter it into this week's challenge. You have until 6:00 pm (Eastern) to enter your creation. We'd love to have you!
