Blank Canvas #2

Well, I goofed this week. At the beginning of each month, I print off all the sketches for the entire month. That way I don't have to go to my computer each week and look up the requirements for my Tuesday Morning Sketches card. The only problem is that I printed them all off using my black and white only printer, so the three colors shown above were all one color. Consequently, when I went into my craft room and started my DT card, I read the words but didn't "see" the actual colors. My mind said, "Oh, summer colors; that's so easy." Uh huh, you guessed it. My summer colors were not the ones shown *boohoo*!

I will point out that my card does contain two of the three colors. There are yellow butterflies in the background, and the little fairy's dress is turquoise. I'm only missing the navy blue (smile). At any rate, because this weekend was a holiday weekend here in the US, and because I was running a wee bit late making my card, I did not have time for a redo. So, (hanging my head), I'm going with what I got done.

The card is a white base with a light blue matting of the colorful (summer colors - smile) butterfly background piece (paper by Recollections). The two dry embossed pieces are from the same pack. The embossing folder is Butterflies and Dragonflies by Sizzix. I turned one piece so the embossing is inward and one so that the embossing is outward. The strip across the bottom (under the image) is a piece of scrap from last week's card and actually comes from the same paper pad which is why it matches so well.

The image is from The Paper Shelter and is called "Make a Wish." The file contains both a pre-colored version and a black and white version of the image. I used the pre-colored image. I printed it, cut it with an oval die and then lightly inked the edges. The sentiment is metal and is lifted with foam backing.

Would LUV for you to join us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Just remember to use navy, turquoise and yellow on your card! Hope you had a nice weekend!

Love

This week's sketch is a little bit different, but so versatile. This sketch can be a fun, cute card or a classic one. It all depends on the paper, the image and how you put it together. Here is the sketch:

It is going to be a lot of fun seeing what the design team and our followers do with this sketch. I treated myself to a new pad of paper this weekend. Lord knows I didn't need it, but I thought the papers were pretty, so I got it. It is called Backyard Table and is by Recollections (Michael's brand).

Our prize for this week is:

I started with a white card for my base and layered the green pattern paper on top of the card. I then took the pink paper (both from my new pad) and cut the fishtail piece. I attached a piece of sheer pink ribbon to the fishtail before adhering it to the green. The oval piece is cut from the same green as the background. I used a Marianne Design die.

My little bunny is from a clip art that I collected somewhere along the way. I had already fussy cut it and found it among my stash of images. Actually, my daughter was going through the images folder and found him. We both though he was quite cute, so he became our focal point. I have him adhered with foam dimensional pop-dots.

The flowers are from my stash. I added the center gem and the punched leaves. The "love" word was a sample sent to me from Darlene at Dutchpapercrafts (dutchpapercrafts3.blogspot.com). It is a Tattered Lace die called Essential Sentiments.

Would love to see you crafting this week and using our lovely sketch. Please give it a try and then posted it to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. Thanks! Until next time. . .

Cat's Meow

This week we are using a sketch provided by Debbie. This is a simple, but cute, sketch that takes on many different looks depending on the image and the paper. Here is what the blank sketch looks like:

Neat, right?  We have a really nice prize this week, too. Have a look:

I have used another wonderful paper from We Are 3 digital papers called Black & White:

The neat thing about this paper is that you can print it as black & white OR you can print in on a colored piece and have a super looking geometric background (which is what I did).

I used one of the stamps from the Tim Holtz Crazy Katz stamp set, and also a few of the stamps from the accessory set (both sets come with matching dies). I stamped the kitty onto white card using Memento black tuxedo ink and then cut it with a Spellbinder zig-zag edge nesting die. My base card is sand with the We Are 3 paper on top. I used peach as my accent color and cut my strip and the matting square for the image from the peach.

I used turquoise and white baker's twine, and then pop-dotted my three little accessory pieces over the twine.

Hope you will join us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Have a good week!

Love Birdie

I made this fun little card today using a piece of paper from the Little Garden collection from We Are 3 Digital Papers and Images, and the Birdie's Boots pre-colored image.

The paper has a lovely floral design on the upper left and lower right corners which I cut off (and used on a card I shared with you last Tuesday).  I used the middle of the printed sheet for my background. The card base is a piece of pink card which matches little Birdie's boots exactly. I printed Birdie and fussy cut her. The background die is by Memory Box. I cut it from a piece of scrap green and adhered it to the card using spray adhesive. Birdie is raised with foam dots and placed over the heart portion of the die.

Love it when I can make a really great card using We Are 3 papers/images and scraps from my bag -- totally a win-win situation! You can find the new May release here:

May Flowers

This week, at Tuesday Morning Sketches, we have a beautiful sketch for you by Melissa. Not sure if you all didn't care for the blank canvas challenge or if you didn't care for "that" blank canvas challenge because we didn't have very many entries. Hope this lovely sketch will boost participation this week.

I am using papers from We Are 3 digital designs. This lovely garden paper set is so romantic (and even a bit Victorian in looks/feel) to me. I thought it was perfect for this week's sketch. It is called "Little Garden."

I printed off a sheet  of the paper shown in the bottom left (above) and then cut the top left corner and right bottom corner off. The green gingham background is not from We Are 3. It is a piece of scrap that I had in my scrap bag. After gluing the two sides onto the gingham, I then printed off the second paper in the top row (above) so that I could then cut the flower pot into an oval piece for the middle of my card. I matted the oval with another piece of scrap from my scrap bag (love it when I can use some of my scraps, don't you?). I then added the three little blossoms (Wild Orchid Crafts) and some green leaves (punched from the same scrap as the oval mat).

Make sure you go over to the Tuesday Morning blog and look at all the DT samples this week. I think you will be highly inspired! The prize this week is an embellishment bag (ribbon, sequins and flowers).
