Pixie Dust

Time for another Flutter By Wednesday challenge, and this week the DT were fortunate to receive some lovely images from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps for our inspiration cards.

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has not only generously donated digi's for the Flutter By Team to use, but  there is also a prize of 3 digi's up for grabs!

Our challenge this week is to use a bit of pixie dust on your creations, in other words, make them SPARKLE and, as always, remember your butterfly or fairy!!

Now, I have to confess that my card only has a small amount of sparkle. Using my image, which I think is beautiful, I created my card and was preparing to send it off to our DT coordinator to add to the FBW blog when I finally realized I'd entirely missed the sparkle/pixie dust requirement. Since it was too late to completely remake my card, I had to figure out how to add sparkle/glitter to my already existing creation. Fortunately, this lovely image lent itself well to my adding Stickles to the flowers and butterfly, but that is all I could do. I think the subtle sparkle adds to the beauty of the image and the card, though (prettier even in "real life" where you can really see the sparkle of the glitter pieces). I used pink Stickles and yellow Stickles for the sparkle.

I chose to do a white on white card so that the lovely image is the main focus. The image really "pops" on the monochromatic white color scheme. My card base is a 6 x 6 white which I distressed with Tim Holtz distressing ink. I then cut four corner pieces (Sizzix), which I also distressed and adhered to the four corners. I cut out my colored image using Spellbinder Labels Ten. I then cut a scalloped circle using Spellbinder Classic Scalloped Circles die, a regular circle using Spellbinder Class Circles, and a "label holder" using a die from the Spellbinder Stampingscrapping set by Ana Ry Designs. I inked all the pieces with the same distressing ink as previous pieces. I then layered all the pieces starting with the scalloped circle and ending with the image piece. Lastly, I added pink pearls by Recollections (Michael's Crafts).

I think that if I were to do this again, I would use a different color distressing ink. The color I used, Old Paper, has a little too much of a greenish tint (to me) and just isn't quite the look I wanted, but I think the card still turned out quite lovely.
