Little Ladybug

Hello there! It is time for another Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge, and we have a super one for you this week.

Our sponsor this week is Imagine That! ...digis by KrisThe prize is 3 digi images or 2 digi images + 1 paper pack! Kris was kind enough to send some new releases for the DT to use. Thank you, Kris.

I realized today that I have colored my little ladybug all wrong. Can you spot what I've done? The really "funny" thing is that I was so concerned about coloring the tree trunk (something I've not done before) that I went outside in my yard and actually looked at the trees. I'm fortunate in that there are huge oak trees, pine trees, Magnolia trees, flowering cherry, redbud, dogwood, and various fruit trees in our yard. Plenty of different species to study. What I learned is that tree trunks are NOT brown. Not a single one of those mentioned species looked brown at all. They were more grays and taupe in color. So, I used my warm gray Copic markers to make my tree branch more realistic looking. Yuppers, I have a "realistic" tree branch but my ladybug is colored backwards -- he should be red where he is black and black where he is red!

I have started with a white 5.5 x 5.5 card base. The DPs are all from a free pack of paper that I got way last year when I purchased a UK stamp magazine. I am going to be sad when that pad is finally used up because I have so enjoyed the papers. I matted all the DP and my image with black card. The only embellishment I've used is the ecru lace on top of the green dotty strip and my sentiment. With the rich paper colors, the fab sketch, and the cute image, I didn't think this needed anything else. What do you think?

I do hope you will join us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and I also hope you will take a few minutes to visit the blog and see the wonderful creations the rest of the DT have made in the hopes of inspiring you.

  1. Well first, how funny is that? I think that this little ladybug is adorable even reversed. And seriously, why do we persist in thinking that tree trunks are brown? You're right! At least both the ladygirl & the ladybug are coloured the same way :)
I think it is an absolutely precious card, and those papers are perfect for it!
