Now, as you will note, I turned the sketch. My image is from DRS Designs, and it definitely lent itself better to a horizontal shape rather than a vertical one. I colored the lovely image using my Copic markers.
The card base is cranberry red. The papers are from a DCWV 8 x 8" pad (several years old). The background DP is a design of strawberries, leaves and blue flowers. The smaller strip is a coordinating DP with smaller strawberry plants in a row with blue stripes in between. I also matted that piece with the cranberry colored cardstock. Last of all, I stamped my sentiment onto white card, matted it with a piece of green and then with the cranberry. I did not have a blue that matched well, so I used the green that matched the leaves in my image and on the strawberry papers.
I finished off my card by putting two yellow gems in the center of the strawberry flowers of the image. I had colored the centers yellow, but decided I not only liked the little extra bling, but the yellow of the gems showed better than the marker.
This is a classic sketch that can be used over and over. Have a look at the cards the DT made -- despite the same sketch, they all look so very different. I think you'll enjoy working with this sketch very much.
Hello friends; happy Tuesday to all of you. This week we have a bit of a "different" sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I have to admit that when I first saw the sketch, I wondered what the heck I was going to do with it, but after breaking it down, it actually only took me a few minutes to actually come up with the idea for my card. Here is the sketch:
This sketch was created by our former team mate Jessi Fogan. I did alter a few things (such as the circle), but I believe I've kept with the overall look of our sketch (can you tell?).
I started with a white card base. I know I said I was going to try to stop using while for my bases, but since I wanted to use the pink and green color scheme, white seemed to work best. I topped the white base with a layer of green Bazzill card and then pink from my scrap bag (sorry, don't have the manufacturer).
I created the roses using the Heartfelt Creations rose dies and matching stamps. I inked the rose pieces with one of SU's pink inks (I think Regal Rose, but not positive). I used Just Rite clear stamps for the tag (rather than a circle) and the sentiment, and stamped them with VersaMagic chalk ink called Pink Petunia. I brushed Stickle Diamond Dust glitter onto the petals of the roses using a paint brush.
I cut the green "vine" using Cheer Lynn B117 Fanciful Flourish metal die from a scrap piece of the Bazzill card that I used for matting. I adhered the roses and the sentiment tag.
The roses are a darker pink than the paper or the sentiment, but are not as red in reality as they appear due to the lighting of the photograph. The colors compliment each other well, and the roses don't really "scream" out as they appear to in the photo. It is really a pretty card, if I do say so myself (smile).

Hello there. It is Tuesday, so time for me to share another Tuesday Morning Sketch with you. This one is a little unique, but makes a lovely card. Here is the sketch:
I started with a white card base (need to start using more colored bases so they will show up better - smile). I used a blue, wood grain paper from a Recollections 12x12" pad as my background.
The beautiful bird print is a precolored bird sheet sold by Marianne Designs. Isn't it lovely? The sheet provides three different designs in both a square and a circle each (6 images all together). I used one of the square images and matted it with black to mimic the black in the wood.
I then stamped a sentiment using a Just Rite Clear stamp from the Spring Wishes Vintage set using Adirondack terra cotta ink. I punched the sentiment using a round1 1/4" punch and matted it with a 1 1/2" black circle.

My card is on the whimsical side this week, and I think it is adorable (hope you do, too). I have used a white card base, and some older designer paper. ( It is so old that the cover is off what is left of the 12x12 pad, so I can't tell you the manufacturer. I am guessing it might be DCW, but I cannot guarantee it.) I liked the retro look, but also liked the way the flowers mimicked the scalloped matting.
My little Wren image is printed onto X-Press It brand card and colored with Copic markers. I used solid green for the scalloped matting behind the image. I used the accessory pieces dies from Tim Holtz's Funky Cats stamps and dies to cut the sun glasses (from a pieces of silver paper) and the hat (from brown paper inked with SU brown ink).
I typed the sentiment "I Miss Seeing You" on the computer and printed it off on the same brown scrap I used for the hat. I used a La La Land die to cut the conversation bubble around the words. I inked the bubble with the same Stampin Up ink I used for the hat.
This sketch could have gone more formal looking using a different image and flowers (or butterflies as pictured on the sketch) and a small tag rather than the sentiment bubble. Hello friends. It is another Tuesday, so Tuesday Morning Sketches is bringing you another sketch. This one was designed by Debbie, and yours truly is providing the prize. First, here is this week's sketch:
and here is this week's prize (I hope you like it because I really wanted to keep it for myself - smile). In honor of spring, it is a Sizzix flower/die set. Stamp the lovely flowers and then let the dies cut them out for you.
My card is a white base with a blue matting around the blue striped background paper. The plaid paper on the front is also matted with the solid blue. Both DPs are from Recollection paper pads that came from Michael's Crafts (two different pads). The little bunny image is from the Hobby House Wee Stamps (a UK company).
I cut the image into a circle but did not mat it because I felt that would have made it too large. The swirl die cut is from Cheery Lynn. I decided to use the same blue card that I'd been using for the matting rather than introduce another color. I made the pink roses using white card and pink ink. I used the rose stamp/die set by Heartfelt Creations. I added a light brushing of Diamond Dust Stickles to the petals of each rose (does not show well in the photo) for a little extra glitz. The bunny is holding a rose, so I created a bit of 3-D effect by adhering one of my handmade roses over the printed images rose.

I cannot believe how quickly the past week went by. I had to work almost every day, and on Wednesday I drove up to my girlfriend's. Every other Wednesday (most of the time), I make the 60 mile drive up to have a play date with my friend. We don't always get a lot done, but we enjoy the day together -- and usually do a good bit of laughing.

Here is this week's sketch:
As you can see, I had to turn the sketch in order for my image to fit. My card is white with a layer of purple and plaid DP. Both designer papers are from the same 8.5 x 11" paper pad called Sweet Pea. I think the pad may have come from Hobby Lobby, but I can't be totally certain. If not, then it came from Michael's Crafts.
I printed off the image, Easter Gal, onto x-Press It brand card and colored it with Copic markers. The matching flower medallion came from my stash and isn't even made by the same company as the paper, but sure did match well, didn't it? I added the little white bow because, to be perfectly honest, I needed to cover a little boo-boo (smile).

I have recently discovered Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies. Heartfelt Creations has been around for some time, so isn't a new company, but is new to me. I've been "collecting" some of the beautiful dies and stamps-dies sets lately and have really enjoyed learning how to use them. I made the card above today.
The card is a white base. I used a Spellbinder die to create the pink frame which I layered on top of the white card. The beautiful Dogwood flowers are first stamped using the wonderful HC stamps (I used Stampin' Up ink), and then are cut using the matching die set. I then sponged the same color pink ink along the tops of the petals and a little in the middle. I used a darker pink in the divots of each petal. I used two different colored Distressed Ink pen colors for the center (a yellow and a mustard). I colored the center with the yellow and then added dots with the mustard.
(NOTE: The stamp and die sets have a calyx type center if you prefer, but the dots look more like the real Dogwood flower centers to me, so I opted to do the centers that way.)
The leaves are stamped with a dark green (Garden Green) and then colored in using a lighter green (Certainly Celery). I added Stickles Diamond Dust glitter to the divoted areas of the petals for a little extra shimmer and glitz.
The "Happy Birthday" was created using dies (sorry, they belonged to my girlfriend and I don't know who made them). After adhering the words, I needed something in the lower left of the card, so I added the butterfly. It actually could have gone down just a little more, but once it was on to the paper, there was no moving it as the glue dries very quickly!
The butterfly was stamped
on vellum using white ink and white embossing powder. It was then fussy cut by hand. I used the Distressed Ink pens (two different pinks)
to color the under side and then adhered just the center of the
butterfly so that I could lightly turn up the wings. I added a bit of
gems behind the butterfly to indicate a flight path.
The Dogwood trees are just beginning to get some blooms on them here in north-west Georgia. I have both white and pink in my yard (although it looks as if I may have lost one of my pinks this year to disease).
