A Day for Flowers

This week, one of my favorite stamp designers is sponsoring our weekly sketch challenge. A Day for Daisies (and her sister, Sami Stamps) have been favorites of mine for quite a long time. First, though, let me share the wonderful sketch with you:

Isn't that a FAB sketch? Melissa has provided us with a real classic with this one.

As I said, ADFD has been a favorite of mine since I started using digital stamps. The designer's images cover a wonderful range from floral to animals to charming children and fairies. The one I have used is one from my stash, and I did not realize (until I went to find it on her store site) that it evidently is discontinued. This one was called Mother's Day Flowers. There are similar images, though, so if you like it, take a look at the others. I'm sure you will find one that will suit your liking.

I colored my image with Copic markers after printing it on X-Press Brand card. The blue card base is from a package of colored card weigh from Michael's Crafts. The DP is from a pad that I've used quite a bit (love the combination of colors) by K&Company. The sentiment is from a set  of Ranger clear stamps. The butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch from a piece of paper in my scrap bin, and the rhinestones are from Recollections.

I have used a Mo Manning image colored with Copic markers. The papers are from an 8x8 DCWV pad. I've used a white card base, red card for matting and the DP from DCWV. The little flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is a wooden cutout from a pack of wooden words that I got from Michael's Crafts.

Here's the sketch...

 For my card today, I used the adorable image called Tower of Whiskers.

 I did not originally intend for this card to be so muted and monochromatic, but it ended up that way. I think I would prefer a little more color, but the less colorful papers make the adorable image POP! Having been on Sami's DT at one time (before time constraints forced me to have to step down), I know that Sami likes kitty images as much as I like Kitties! I personally live with a gray and white, a tan and brown, a calico and a solid black -- a wide variety -- and while I didn't try matching my own kitties in the image, I did try for a wide variety.

I used the aqua card weight for my base card, and laid a piece of gray DP from a Recollections pad on top. For the slightly tilted piece, I used a wide dotty white and aqua ribbon. I inked around the image piece with Color Box aqua and adhered it to the card with pop dots so that it fit up over the ribbon. Lastly, instead of buttons (as in the sketch), I used a sticker I found in my stash. I mounted the sticker onto a scrap piece of the base card and punched it out because the sticker was transparent, and I didn't want the background to show through it. I adhered the circle with adhesive on one side and a pop dot on the other to make it level with the image.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #359

Good Morning you wonderful friends and followers!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and is feeling refreshed and ready to join TMS for another fun sketch.  The family and I celebrated the US Independence day quietly as the 100 degree temps just were not inviting for picnics or fireworks. It was nice to just be able to relax, though, with no one having to rush off to work!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #358

Good Morning friends.  Thank you for joining me for another sketch challenge.  Today's sketch is by Debbie and it's a really fun one.  I loved it and I know you will, too.

Here is our sketch:

My image is adorable Jenny Giraffe.  I used her for a baby card (she would also look adorable colored in either pink or blue colors, but I needed to keep her neutral). She would also look cute for a child's birthday card or even an inspiration card ("keep your chin up" or stamp a tree limb full of leaves and say "reach high"). Anyhoo, I did the baby card using a neutral green and cream color theme. I colored Jenny with my Copic markers and the designer papers are by DCWV. (Please ignore the gold at the bottom and one side of my card. I could not find my easel that I usually use, so draped the card over a standing picture I have in my craft room and a little of the frame showed.)

Sending a (Summer) Smile

Good Morning friends.  It is Tuesday again, so we another sketch for you.  This week's sketch is brought to us by Debbie.  Isn't it a nice, classical look? I really like it!

Yep, that's The Boy at his high school graduation. He is officially a graduate (and as of the writing of this blog down in FL with about a dozen of his friends and fellow graduates), and will be starting college in August. We are very proud of this young man.

A Look at Wednesday

 

Howdy TMS friends! I am running a bit late this week. Thinks have been busy around my household. Thank you so much for stopping by (even if a day late).  The new sketch is brought to you from Jessi.  I think this is so much fun and so versatile as you'll see by the amazing design team.  

The sponsor is our own Melissa this week - in honor her sweet daughter who graduates this week. The prize will be everything Hollyanne reminds Melissa of (sound like fun, doesn't it?).

There are actually two DT members who have children graduating this week. Melissa's Hollyanne and my Collin are graduating high school. Debbie Foster's daughter is graduating in a couple of weeks. Busy, busy time for everyone. In addition, we are sadly having to say good-bye to DT member, Lee, who is going to be quite busy packing and preparing to move back to the USA. We are going to miss Lee, but glad she is coming "home."

I created a tri-fold card for my sketch. It doesn't HAVE to be tri-fold as you could simply use different papers for each side of a flat card instead. However, I thought the flat card would be fun. I used white card for the base and striped DP for each side and the inside. My image, which I colored with Copic markers, is matted with solid blue card. The sentiment is computer generated and cut with an oval die.
